2000 Tacoma SR5 vs PreRunner?

Hello,

I am a first time owner of Toyota Tacoma.
I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma xtracab SR5.

It has the SR5 badge on the side but no prerunner badge anywhere.
It has a 6 lug.

I register it for my insurance and apparently my vin# says its a PreRunner.

What is the difference really between SR5 and PreRunner

Mine is a 4cl 2.7L automatic as well.

Trim levels and badging on 1st gens is different from 3rd and 4th gens. All 1st gen prerunners were SR5s, I believe. Prerunner just means that it has 6 lugs, as well as the suspension and "lift" of a 4x4, but it is just RWD.

 

Gotcha, yea I was a lil confuse because mine didn't come with a Pre-Runner badge but alot of gen1 Tacoma I saw when I was looking around had them, and almost all of them were v6 so wasnt sure if that had to do with anything too lol
