This state is not sustainable. Natural beauty, great weather (usually). But living here is a losing battle with Mother Nature.

Selling a home out there is going to be a nightmare. Mortgage companies require insurance on the home. And most buyers have no idea what it will cost. I can’t see home prices continuing to rise out there. To be honest, I can’t see it being a place anyone can afford to live.

Amanda’s next door neighbor was changing a tire and forgot to set the parking brake. The Civic has an automatic transmission, but the driveway is sloped, and it just shifted ever so slightly; I had to bring the jack over…

So, for those of you just tuning in, Barb (my girlfriend’s birth mother) passed away on or around February 13th. Her body was not found until the 18th, when a friend called the police to do a welfare check, and they had to kick in the door.

So, there are conflicted stories; Barb’s cell phone shows that her last text message went out on February 10th. Amanda last talked to Barb on the night of February 11th, a Tuesday (I was there). One of Barb’s neighbors in the same building (an older man across the hall) claimed to have seen her alive on February 15th (Saturday), but this lesbian couple directly across the courtyard in another building said they had not seen her since the 13th (Thursday).

Amanda and I believe that she passed on Thursday night, as she was on the floor in front of her bed, in her pajamas as though she’d been getting ready for bed.

The one confusing part is that her last text message ever went out on the 10th, but she was obviously still alive on the 11th, as Amanda talked to her on the phone that night.

Both of the aforementioned lesbians are recovering drug addicts, and as a result they claim to be tuned into as to whether somebody is using. Those two women, and an older woman in Barb’s building, claim that Barb was using crack as recently as two or three months ago. The lesbian couple claims Barb told them she was taking an occasional hit to deal with the immense pain she was in. Their theory is that she got a bad batch of crack with some fentanyl in it or something, and that’s what killed her.

Amanda and I have only been there like three times in the last year, and we saw no signs that Barb was using again; Amanda thinks it’s bullshit that her mom has been using. She has been clean for at least a decade. I am not a doctor, but I personally suspect an aneurysm,
a heart attack, or a stroke. She was also HIV positive and undetectable for the longest time thanks to the meds she was taking, but we suspect that had regressed into full-blown AIDS and was afraid to tell us.

We were told up to 12 weeks for the toxicology results to come back, but the woman at morgue told us that some of the results were back. They can’t tell us anything until everything comes back, though…



The regular funeral service will likely be in the next week or so, but the military service in Washington Crossing cannot take place until the autopsy and toxicology are totally done.

 

I don't mean this in a bad way.

But "Dead people make for good gossip".

When I die. I plan to hang around for a bit and hear all the stories that get told about me.

My best advice is to ignore the talk.
What was, is no longer, it's gone. None of it matters now.
Let the lady rest in peace.

 

I hit 215K on my way to work this morning!

 

My parents bought their house brand new about nine years ago, and the dishwasher shit the bed. They decided to just get a new one, and I get to scrap the old one…

 

Liking the new one? Got my water heater installation finished up this evening.

 

What type did u guys get ? Standard type or instantaneous demand type ?
