Where does it end, though and who are the idiots?
I'm sure there's people who think I'm an idiot and people who think they are idiots.......

gotta optimize the pay vs effort equation

some people work far too hard for what they get paid.

also being in a salary position I like to remind people on occasion, you don’t pay me for the hours, you pay me for what I know and to get the job done.

This was me up until around 2017. At the end of 2016, my boss gave me a good raise to get me a proper journeyman wage. When I switched to my current company, I got another good raise. We get annual raises for performance, and to keep up with the union.

Now, I sometimes feel like I'm a little bit on the other side of the equation. But, I think my salary is in line with my Job title and duties.

I'm in the same boat. If I check jobs records online and multiple sources, I'm making over double what others in my same position are making....

Like @Shellshock said....you/we are getting paid for what we know. Not what we do. :)

disclaimer: that doesn't mean I'm wealthy. Just better off than someone else who does what I do. ;)

I have my position because of merit and 1 person on the Apprenticeship committee that spoke up for me 14 years ago. Unlike the lazy POS on 3rd shift that got it because of friends and relatives and who he took to sporting events. Even though things are slow at work, we still have to make up for him.
It is noticed who can be relied on and who can't.
I could go on with this rant but I feel like bacon & eggs this morning.:hungry:

We had a retired military man doing misc. tasks around the plant. Quiet guy that kept to himself and did every task at the same time everyday like clockwork.

Several employees always bitched about him but I'll say one thing......
When he went on vacation, you knew.......dirty bathrooms, full waste and recycling containers and other things that people never usually noticed because Jim always had it done.

I used to switch jobs every 2-3 years. It was a pain but you could pretty easily get a 10-30% increase in pay each time which far outweighs the raises we usually didn't get anyway or if we did they were like 2% max. Now I’m to the point now where i care more about benefits like flexibility, remote work, pto, etc than the pay. Sure i could make more but then id have to work way harder.

Yeah, I've heard of people jumping around like that.

I'm kind of in the same boat, except that my company probably pays as well as anyone. I've gotten about a 67% increase since I started here in 2017. (Edit: I should point out that my title has also changed, so that accounts for some of the increase)

I'm very much with you about the benefits!

I can usually work 4 day weeks if I want. I can set my own start time. I get a good amount of PTO. I have a 4 door 4WD Silverado that I'm allowed to use as a personal vehicle.

I've said it many times. I'm very lucky to have this job!

At my work there is a cleaning company that cleans the bathrooms and office areas. They do an exellent job!
One girl comes in by me and empties the small trash cans and keeps the floor clean. I always thank her and open the door for her.

Worked an overnight shift. Slept from around 5:30 to 10:30 and now I'm just being lazy on the couch with the dog. Truck is begging for an oil change, but it's 37° out there and pretty cozy right here. It'll be 52° on Sunday... Think I just fixed this issue.

    I think I'll go take a look at Pat's latest KenTWucky25 maps.
