I think you may be onto something. When I do force it to stay running by working the accelerator, the live data does show a closed loop. Since my original engine had a severe head gasket failure I'm wondering if the oil/water mix made it's way to the sensors, contaminating them? How would I test this?

Correct, I can get it running and then it'll start dying on its own. I tossed the old gas.

    Near I can tell is happening;
    1. Disconnect the battery for ~20 min forces the ECU to relearn the proper throttle body mix.
    2. During this time the TB will keep the engine running by revving the engine when it begins to stall.
    3. After a time, the ECU thinks the TB has the proper mix.
    4. Here's where I'm lost, something is causing the mix to be thrown off causing the stall.

These steps are repeatable and nothing I've previously done counters it.

Are we sure the A/F sensors are plugged in on the correct sides. I think it could be possible that the harness are long enough that they could be swapped. Things happen anytime an engine is swapped.

I’d maybe unplug them. And see if the truck will go to a base map and run. But it should at least idle.

Or at least I think it should.

Yes. The sensors in the headers, before the catalytic converters.

Do you think it is worth swapping to try?

I unplugged them, no change. Good thing you cannot interchange these plugs. They are keyed or of different type.

    Back to the drawing board.
I'm going to have to think about this one.

This thread has gotten so long, I forget.
Have we unplugged the MAF to see what happens?

way back in post 82, Dm93 stated that it was the A/F and the O2 sensors that could be be swapped.
He even said that the issue it would cause, would be when you went into CL.

I say, we unplug ALL the sensors.
    See what happens.

I was thinking you could only get the banks for the A/F mixed up.
    Dm93 says it's the A/F and the O2 sensor.

:rofl:I say we unplug all of them.
The truck isn't going to like. But what do we have to loose?

I'm still going through the 9 pages. Taking notes.

I can try swapping them again. But I'm pretty sure they're different.

Best I remember, I never heard my truck make that noise on shut down.
I'd go see, but my truck is currently loaded with lumber and at my dad's place.

I'm tapped out on fence building. I said, come and get the truck and trailer.
I'm done fighting tree roots and fence posts.
