What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

thanks for link. my front left gives a very slight hum noise when 60+mph on highway when i turn to the right, so i think left front wheel bearing eventually. looks like a nice product...was installing that difficult? easy considering its the entire hub with bearing?

on the flip side im an accountant for a fabrication/marine hydraulics shop with presses so i could get new bearing in oem if need be

They are Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's. had them for about 12k miles so far. Absolutely Love them.

 

That noise does match wheel bearing symptoms. A lot of people on here order from https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-service-oe-nsk.537080/page-109#post-30192332 to support a fellow TW member with a good price. Even having access to a press I still bought from him preassembled to save the bit of time for minimal money.

Install is as easy as it can get for a wheel bearing, quick bolt in swap plenty of tutorials/videos. I did both fronts at the same time, just make sure you order axle and knuckle seals if you might need them and have the right socket and a big torque wrench.

the dust cover for axle seal you meant, what is knuckle seal? what do you think the timken oil seal correlates to in the ebay descript?

 

I believe that timken oil seal is the one that sits in between the hub and bearing, so it goes in before they press it together, same with the bolts. You can see it in their listing pictures a bit. I circled it in red, and also circled the o ring in green that you would need that I don't think I see on the ebay listing but is included in the ones from 05Taco4x4.

This pic below shows the CV and knuckle seals I was talking about. Both of mine were rusty and torn and not reusable. There's an equivalent seal from National that apparently matches OEM if you search for it, they just get tapped on/in.

Finally did a coolant flush, might do waterpump and alt soon.

You can get that back to shape without any further damage - boiling hot water poured over that ding will allow the material to ‘pop’ back to original form - might need a push from the backside. Youtube has a few videos showing how to.

Changed the oil and filter. Fumoto for the win! Still need to grease u-joints and rotate tires... 69000 miles

 

yeah, blow dryer or heat gun has a better chance of messing up the paint/clearcoat. I’d try the hot water first.

Installed new to me fog light housing. Old one had led fog lights, and the seal leaked so the housing was full of water and corroded.
