2023 Tacoma TRD Voice Text Not Working

    2023 Lunar Rock Tacoma TRD
    When I am driving and get a text message I will hit read text. Then I will reply using dictation. The screen will spin then the voice will say, "Sorry, I didn't get that. Try again". It never goes through. I have to get my phone and do voice to text from there. Is anyone else having this problem?

    I just noticed this has been happening to me also. This better not be another feature removed from the radio! I was looking in the radio manual and it was talking about needing active subscriptions for the cloud to better understand dictation. I let my one year navigation and remote start subscriptions run out in August of 24. So I am at a loss as to why it decides now to not do voice to text. Unless it took some form of update and wiped out any learned voice data it stored during its subscription and now its acting as if it was never subscribed. Thus trying to force another subscription. I think it may just force a trade to a Frontier.

    You do need Remote Connect to do speech to text. If you don't have it all you can do are Quick Replies.

    Okay but if my remote connect subscription expired on August 12th 2024 then how was my voice to text still working up until about a week or two ago? I can confirm the remote connect was definitely shut down because I am always on the app. I also let the safety connect expire the same day.

    I made a report of having problems and they asked a couple questions. When I got in the truck tonight it started working. When I got home there was another email asking for more information. So I don't know if they made a change and not saying they did, or it fixed itself before they figured out the problem.

    Tech1029, not sure how it was still working. When my remote connect subscription ended, my speech to text stopped working and all I had was quick replies. I have been paying the $80 for a years subscription and this is the first time I have had any problems with it. I like the advanced navigation you get with the remote connect subscription. It will find most anything you ask for (things not stored in the flash memory).

    Did you pair your phone to the truck by bluetooth then it should work. I paired my phone 4 years ago and never had issues. I did not buy into any subscriptions.

    MDH you said you made a report and they asked questions. Who are "they" that you reported to?

    NIRANGO you never had the remote start or dynamic navigation subscription but you can push the talk button on your steering wheel and speak a text message without being in the android auto or Apple carplay mode?

    I do have remote start and Navigation which is built into the vehicle with my Premium Package but never subscribed or used any of their apps.
    When I got the truck I just paired my android phone by blue tooth and every thing has been working great, remote start, navigation, voice activation for the radio, phone and maps. Answer or make calls with the button or by voice.

    You can do all of those without the subscription, you shouldn't be able to do speech to text or advance navigation. If you press the press the button and say text <name>, do you only get quick replies or the option to speech to text.

    With the subscription you can start the truck and lock it from an app on your phone. Plus speech to text.

    Not sure about replying to text message with voice I never tried it but I do know that I get a text on the screen with option to read, reply, call or listen to it. I usually just want to hear it and voice command hear it and it begins to read me the text. Not much into texting but I do receive some.

    I got in the truck today and voice to text just decided to work again. It must have been on vacation?
