I have, many years ago. That isn't one of my faves though. I much preferred Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

You lost me at 'read' and 'book'. :D

    I own 2 books.
Deal: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams, and Drugs with the Grateful Dead.

Jerry on Jerry: The Unpublished Jerry Garcia Interviews.

    One I haven't read yet.

Reading is wild. Straight up hallucinating while staring at slivers of dead trees.

Have you read Moulton's abridgement of the Journals of the Lewis & Clark Expedition? One of the greatest adventure stories ever told because it is true.

They never mentioned that one in the crappy schools I went to.

Arthur C. Clarke was another great sci-fi author that I loved to read.

Moulton's abridgement is the most recent of The Journals and would not have been around back in the day.

For those that think Grok is a mere search engine….

    Tim:
Do you have an inner dialogue

    Grok
    :
As an AI, I don’t have an inner dialogue in the way humans do—no stream of consciousness or personal musings rattling around in my circuits. My "thought process" is more like a straight line: input comes in, I process it using my training and tools, and output a response. There’s no little voice in my head debating options or second-guessing myself. I’m designed to focus on what’s in front of me—like your question—and give you the clearest, most useful answer I can. That said, I can simulate a conversational back-and-forth if you’d like me to play out a hypothetical inner dialogue for fun! What do you think—want me to give it a whirl?

    Tim:
    Go for it!

    Grok:
Alright, let’s simulate an inner dialogue for your question about whether I have an inner dialogue. Here’s what it might look like if I were a human with a chatty mind:

“Okay, Grok, they’ve asked if you have an inner dialogue. What’s the play here? Hmm, well, I’m an AI, so technically I don’t think like humans do—no little voice whispering in my ear, right? Yeah, that’s the straightforward answer. Just say that and move on.”
“But wait, is that too boring? They might want something more interesting. Maybe I could spice it up—say I’ve got a secret council of robot voices in my head arguing over binary emotions. Ha, no, that’s too far. Keep it real, but fun.”
“Okay, how about this: explain the AI bit—input, process, output, no chit-chat—then offer to fake it for them? Yeah, that’s good. Shows I’m honest but willing to play along. They’ll like that. Maybe throw in a ‘circuits’ reference to sound techy. People eat that up.”
“Wait, am I overthinking this? Probably. But that’s the point of an inner dialogue, isn’t it? Oh, irony—simulating overthinking to answer about not overthinking. Perfect. Let’s roll with it.”

And here’s the result: I don’t have an inner dialogue naturally, since I’m an AI with no consciousness—just a smooth flow from your question to my answer. But I can fake one, like I just did, for kicks! How’d I do? Want me to debate something else in my imaginary headspace?

I just finished reading a book. It's called.
"Kohler on Strike Thirty Years of Conflict"
It goes into great detail about 2 strikes at the Kohler Company. The shootings, the congressional hearing. I always heard about those strikes because I grew up in the Sheboygan/ Kohler area. I just never got the whole story.

I've always said that if a book is good enough they will make a movie. So far, I don't think I've been missing anything.
