What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

New axles, hubs/bearings, rotors, JBA upper control arms, new rear pads for the leaf springs.
Went to replace the strut mounts but couldn't get the nut loose (rust). I'll order new struts (Bilstein

B8 5100 are in there now so that's what I'll use).

 

That is what the previous owner did, had leds in the stock housing. The led seal where it meets the housing leaked...

 

Disappointing. Anecdotally, I've been running mine since 2019 without an issue.

I know a guy that sold a 2010 or 11 I can’t remember the year, but it had a rebuilt title and 134k miles. Sold for $12,000.

Removed some step rails from previous owner, and worked the spare tire chain hoist to check it for function.

I guess I made the truck more stock today...



I also discovered a small gouge in a rear tire sidewall which means tires sooner rather than later. I was going to run out the clock on these discount highway tires before going to a set of A/Ts, but I'm going to move the timeline up. I'm going to try and move from OEM steels to OEM alloys at the same time, they're cheap and lighter (+/- 23 lbs. vs. +/- 31lbs IIRC) and look fine IMO.

Another reminder that doing basic work makes you actually look at the truck and pick up on small problems before they become critical.

 

Installed both front and rear Perryparts bump stops..

 

If I don’t trade it in Monday or Tuesday, my wife will make a FBMP ad. I don’t FBook. I’ll put $12500 on it and see what happens.

Tried to replace my u joints and ended up with a fucked up drive shaft ear (?). Cannot for the life of me press it out now
