Ye at home coating is fun! Me and my buddy did it with my truck wheels!

All black was the original look so we sand blaster them and put a black lip and a clear coat on them. Was good fun and now I want my own setup haha.

Yeah, gives a guy ideas he shouldn't have. I've got some wheels that need a freshening...

Out this weekend continuing my quest on the GLMC Grand Tour. Saturday was a shade over 100 miles yielding this:

One point for an old pizza shop in Landisburg, PA was all I got for my effort. I had a small diner bookmarked in Loysville a few miles away for this one but arrived only to find the former Sherman's Valley Diner is now a childcare facility. This is one of the challenges of these events. Businesses open and close. A place you might remember from your past might not be there when you visit the area latr in life.

Today was a bit more fruitful.

Lemoyne Family Restaurant, only open on weekends now for breakfast and lunch. I've eaten there a few times. Their steak and eggs is a good deal. Funny story we learned while eating there. Current owner reopened it after buying it just to give his father a job on weekends, Dad had retired and was sort of "lost" without a job. His son purchased this place after it had been closed for several years and reopened it just to keep dad busy and give them something they could do together.

Camp Hill, PA and the Sierra Madre. We love going here for dinner, great Mexican food and reasonable prices.

A 2-pointer side of chips at Appalachian Harley Davidson. This is kind of like going home for me as I spent over 10 years working there part time in their parts department. It's where I bought my first FJR1300 back in 2012 when it got traded in on the purchase of a new Harley Street Glide. I think I got the better deal.

In downtown Mechanicsburg at the former Gingerbread Man. Used to be a happening place a few years ago.

A few miles down the road heading into Carlisle, PA on Route 11.

    Mount Holly Springs, PA

Finally in Lewisberry, PA the Lake Tavern. Used to known as Silver Lake but new ownership and a facelift to update it some. Only 5 miles from my home I've eaten there more than a few times.

Adding this weekend's 9 points to last Saturday's 14 points puts me over finisher's status already. Going to shoot for a podium finish again and a refund of my entry fee.

Another day of riding done! Did about 30miles today on some gravel roads and asphalt? Idk if I can call what was left of it that haha. But has a great time!

Have a video on insta of Emily ripping around in second gear in the muddy field and a video of me trying to prove her wrong that my bike can indeed stand straight up in the mud without a kickstand! And it was doing it for awhile! Buuuut then my bike decided ya know what she has a point! Dirt nap time!

So this link will go to insta if you wanna watch me watch my bike fall to the mud lol.

Towing dual sports is an odd thing but I can get a lot more riding done if I arrive, unload, and know I dont have to ride home lol.

well mine isnt exactly a dual sport lol i just made it street legal but never plated it yet. and she doesnt have a license as of yet so thats why we stick to a field and gravel and back county roads.

I was able to cancel it. Feel better now not spending $600. Got them rotated during the appointment though.

My wife curbed her jeep wheels a couple years ago, it did the tiniest pinch of the sidewall and was leaking. Local tire shops wouldn't even do two, they all said they have to do all 4 because jeep doesn't say in the vehicle manual what type of diff it is, even though its open non-locking. I was pissed.

My wife curbed the crap out of ALL the wheels on my Scion xB. I sanded the damage and blasted them. Powder coated them black and they looked brand new.
Once I get a larger oven built I am going to do my son’s wheels on his Corolla. They are flaking. I would like to do the wife’s car too but we will see.

Thats crazy. At that point its just take in the wheels and have them put on. But ive learned when you do that the mileage warranties arent honored which is total bs.

This is the only wheel ive rashed. The wife did one other. At some point id like to buy 18s to get some more sidewall. The 19s are rough on potholes

Speaking of wheels and tires for our cages, I blew another axle in less than 2k miles on the Forester. I got irritated enough to pull the lift out and sold it.

It looks so much better at stock height:

    upload_2025-3-10_14-9-22.png

Still don't like the tires since they're way bigger than stock and are heavy and don't ride/handle well, so I bought some Crosstrek wheels for $200 today. Hopefully they fit:

I got an email this morning from the GLMC scorer telling me I need to resubmit the Lemoyne photo. File he got was corrupted for some reason. I had a route planned that would have been finisher status in one ride but I've since chopped that up and some of the Sunday ride was the start of that route. I decided I'd be better off splitting that 20+ point route up and use parts of it to gather some outlying locations that would otherwise have me riding further to pick up odd points later in the event.

April 1 opens up the Team Strange GT and I'll have to start carrying 2 rally flags or placards soon.

That sucks that you're still waiting on parts. Hope you get them back soon.
