Had my truck looked at in early January. When I picked it up looks like more of the paint was missing. I believe they scraped it off possibly checking For adhesion. I was set up with an appointment for early May to get the truck repainted under warranty. They will have it for two weeks and a rental car will be provided.

Mine is going in next week with approval for all 4 doors and the front end. My dealership said they will only give me a loaner for 7 days and the body shop said it’ll be 2-3 weeks! I saw someone else here was told 9 days for a loaner, anyone getting one for the full duration of the repair?

Damn I really hope it doesn’t take that long but that’s good info. I’m gearing up for a fight about the length of the loaner.

    UPDATE
Just got my truck back, tool 3 weeks. Looks good, hope it holds up. Asked for a quote to do few other spots on roof and bumper.$3000! Just had them do what Toyota was paying for, anyway, they did fix problem areas. All 4 doors and front fenders.

Just got my truck back from the dealership and they did a great job! I went in with my CSP bulletin about 6 weeks ago and was put on a waiting list to get it into the paint shop (there was about 4 or 5 Tacos ahead of me). Took about a month to get an opening and about 10 days to complete. They took off the doors and front quarter panels, painted them, and reinstalled with new weatherstripping, clips, grommets, etc and reinstalled the pin stripping. I don’t have any good before pics but the paint around my back windows and inside the engine bay quarters was chipping very badly. It looks factory new now. The dealer I used was Peter Bulware Toyota in Columbia SC and I can’t say enough good things about them. I generally steer clear of dealerships but this was truly the best dealer service experience I’ve ever had. I’ll still do my own maintenance but not afraid to take the Taco to them if necessary.

2021 TRD Sport here. Paint chipping around the window frames and driver side fender. 2 dealerships said they wouldn't do the work. First one told me they don't have a in-house shop they used, referred me to a second where the manager said they weren't obligated to fix the issue. Taking it to a third Wednesday for pictures and approval for the work.

Took mine to the dealer in Manhattan Beach in November and they put me on the list for Toyota to approve. Said it take 4 weeks to get a response. Went back this past week and asked about it. Service manager told me that Toyota has frozen the program because they are finding more areas that the paint defect is present. “They don’t want to repaint the normal areas and then have to repaint again” Manager said it likely be June and July that I’d hear anything new.

Could be bs from the dealer not wanting to paint the truck… but thought I’d give the update.

Took my Tacoma into Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA on Monday for the required inspection before they would take it in for the painting. They are the largest Toyota dealer in the country and have a huge service dept. and collision/paint center. They have taken in a lot of these Tacomas as well as the prior Corollas, Camrys and other models too. I was very disappointed to learn that the current Toyota Super White remedial program only covers the front fenders and rear doors which are removed for re-painting. My Tacoma also has paint peeled on the front edge of the hood and at the bottom of the A pillars right at the hood-fender crease that they said will not be covered. I asked for an estimate for those areas to be painted too and it came out to $1300!!! They recommend filing a complaint with Toyota corporate which I will do but I am not happy with the situation. They admit there's a problem with the white paint but seem to want to avoid covering all of the affected areas. Seems pretty short sighted to me since it will generate ill will with lots of customers for a known problem. Has anyone else gotten Toyota to cover other areas than the fenders and rear doors?

They said 4 to 6 weeks for painting but they did give me a rental car for the duration - a Super White Camry!

Update: Talked to Customer Service yesterday and the lady took all my info but confirmed that they aren't covering anything other than the rear doors and fenders at this time. Told her I'm not happy!

that seems strange that they would only paint certain parts. You gotta figure if there’s a paint defect it should affect the entire vehicle.

So far I’ve only seen chipping on the drivers rear door. In retrospect, had I found this thread before I bought my truck I probably wouldn’t have bought a white truck unless it was a killer deal. I specific wanted white. I also bought my truck via Carvana, which didn’t show any peeling paint, which is kinda frustrating. Realistically though, the peeling is so subtle right now I don’t think I would have seen it myself prior to purchase.

FYI if your truck should be done and hasn't returned yet!
It's been 1 week since I dropped off my car and the service rep has not been much help so I called the shop that they outsourced the job to and they were very helpful. The manager said that my truck is finished but they are waiting on the dealership to bring them a couple parts. Those parts are out of stock and turned out to be the black out tape that goes on the door frames between the two windows. Apparently they are becoming difficult to get due to the amount of paint repairs needed.

After speaking with the body shop and service rep they agreed to give me my truck back and call me when the parts come in and slap them on while I wait.

Only bad news is the body shop manager said that he is seeing several cars with paint chipping on the hood and roof that are not being covered at this time.

Got my 18 Limited back from the body shop today. I first met with them a year ago, got on the list in September and dropped off Tuesday 3/18. They painted the rear doors and front fenders plus I added in dent removal/paint for the tailgate and a full detail. Truck looks new again! I couldn't be happier. The body shop manager indicated he thinks they will be paining hoods in the future. JAFFARIAN Toyota in Haverhill Ma. We've been there before and they are great to deal with.

This is good info for me as I’m super local to this dealer and if/when I plan to get my truck repaired, that’s where I’ll take it. 4-6 weeks is a heck of a long time and hopefully the loaner/rental is for the whole duration. Did you take in any specific paperwork or just say you’re there for the paint recall/repair?

The rental is for the duration, so that part's good. I called the service dept. to make an appointment and they were familiar with the paint warranty program. The collision guy who called me afterwards said that they are running about 4 weeks but give the range to cover contingencies.

I think and hope you might be right. Mine is flaking on the forward front roof and front and under the hood. They might suspect there's more issues as they fix and may have to fix other area's or paint the whole vehicle. I was planning to bring it in April but I gueyill wait it out to see

I haven't bought mine in yet but can you share how you contact them because there's more areas affected besides the mentioning of doors and fenders
