On the Prerunner, are all the u-joints the same part number? Can I replace all with the same u-joint?

I have not yet, it wasn't an immediate need but I will be leaving this forum open in case I get a surefire answer.

For a 6 lug truck, there are two replaceable u joints on the rear drive shaft, and two replaceable u joints on the front. They are the same part number. If your rear drive shaft has a double cardan joint (extended and double cab trucks), the u joints in the double cardan joint are considered non-replaceable.

If you are considering replacing your u joints, I highly suggest watching Timmy The Toolman's video on the topic. The yokes are tapered, and it really makes using the traditional tooling to press the caps in and out a PITA.

I'd be weary of Moog parts. Stick with OEM or Spicer greaseable u joints.

For clarities sake- I say considered non-replaceable because the u joints in there are not the same, and they are hard to find. If you do wanna go down that rabbit hole see this thread: Double Cardan U-joint Teardown '02 Tacoma - Page 2 - YotaTech Forums Ultimately someone responds with the part number Rockford 2540
