Trying to connect with other Tacoma World members & owners in my E. WA. area. So far not lucky (just one wanna be ripoff) ! I'm not able to wrench nor have all the knowledge for sensors etc. , fortunately Tacoma World has been helpful . If you can put me in touch with a pro it would be appreciated. I'm driving a 2013 4.0 dbl cab SR5 Thanks

https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ne-wa-and-n-idaho.586068/ I met a young man with a 2013 DC about a month ago from Liberty Lake (E. Spokane).
SteelheadBum drove over on a Sunday morning to pick up a couple dozen lug nuts for alloy wheels, and we enjoyed our visit. Scout around in the forums (I drove a 25 year old Scout II from Missoula to Cordova, Alaska in 1996.) as you may find your topic posted by another member. Parker Toyota in Cd'A and Lithia Toyota in Missoula are good.

I've had my truck less than a year , has 88K pretty good shape after I cleaned it up . Had a carrier bearing problem & other strange noise trying to trace . I took it to a (we do everything) shop on Francis made the mistake believing they could do everything, took them 5 visits on my carrier bearing & ended up having a neighbor kid fix it . Tried a well respected other shop & no luck , charged me $200.00 for a safety check & bent my heat shield over my cat convertor making a hell of a noise. I just need a reliable go to place or individual . I'm an older retired guy & most of my friends just watch TV all day . I was a street rodder for many years but Tacoma's are a different story ! Thanks Jerry

Can you further explain the strange noise you are hearing on the truck? Does it also come with any vibrations that can be felt? Or just a noise? Front, rear? You would be surprised what you can find out right here online if you can give some more details on the noise you are hearing.

Sorry I don't know how to navigate here very well besides computer challenged ! Twice now fixed aluminum exhaust guards bent after shops worked on them (very loud vibration) but I have a rumble growling sputtering noise coming from engine compartment on drivers side , it is new only reason i'm curious, it's constant rotating sound. I know Tacoma's have to be the noisiest I've ever owned . Thank for getting back ! Jerry

Do you have to be rolling down the street to hear it? Or any time the engine is running?

Take the accessory belt off and see if the noise goes away

Anytime the engine is running ,rotating, chugging, growling sound . Trans & motor operating fine .Seems to be coming on driver side of motor ,maybe a little vibration . It's so noisy under the hood that it's easier to separate in the drivers seat. My wife can hear it but none of the mechanics ? If it isn't a problem I can live with the noise but don't want to have a breakdown . Thanks

Is it more noticeable under certain conditions like when the motor is cold or when you have load on it?

No, just a rattling / chugging rotating sound like something that might be loosening ?I don't think its so noticeable when I first start up cold but that's when the motor is loudest anyway & it's been freezing temp or below.

Sounds like it might be the same issue I'm having. Can't pinpoint where exactly it's coming from. I'll let you know if I ever figure it out, I don't think it's anything you have to worry about though

Paying closer attention ,it may be louder first thing in the morning ? Our weather is warming up, I'll see if that makes a difference ?

My truck is also running and shifting great. I'll have to take note of how the sound changes with warmer weather too. I got my truck back from an accident in December and can't remember if I was having this sound in the summer or not, so I guess we'll see if the weather makes a difference. I've heard it could be anything from exhaust heat shields, to spark plug knock, to clogged cats etc. Moral of the story is no one knows what the sound is coming from and the engine still runs like a clock, so I'll leave it be until it doesn't. I've learned that the hardest part of being a Taco owner is ignoring all the noises the engine makes haha

Here's a laugh....my wife googled what would make my truck make a chugging sound ! Try it, it will make you laugh , more information then all I've looked & paid for ?! I'm thinking exhaust leak now but look at the list how many possible. Fuel filter, spark plug etc. Good Luck Andrew

Haha now you’re going down the rabbit hole just like I have been! I just replaced my spark plugs a week ago with OEM plugs and it accelerates a little smoother now but didn’t change the sound at all good luck as well Jerry! I think we’re chasing our own tails here
