TIL brake pad anti-rattle spring goes on only one way

So, today I replaced my '16 Tacoma's brake pads for the first time. I've watched so many YouTube videos over and over, and even read the service manual, however, there was one thing I wasn't sure of -- how to orient that vertical metal clip that goes on the side of the pads (Toyota calls it the Anti-Rattle Spring, #47748). Some YouTubers sounded so sure of themselves ("the bent part goes on the top").

Well, that's true for one side but NOT the other side. Turns out, that metal clip only goes on one way on each side - and they are opposite each other. You can't put it on upside down (because the bent part in the middle should only go into the hole one way). But that means the angled tip is up on one side, but down on the other side.

I was so confused - I replaced the driver side, had the angled end pointed down (because that's how the original was). I get to the passenger side, and the angled end is at the top! I thought I did something wrong, so after doing the passenger side, I went back to the driver's side, took the tire off again, took the clip off, flipped it upside down, and couldn't figure out how to get it back on right I finally realized that these clips go on different orientations depending on which side you are on....

at least, I hope that's true!

No.. that's weird.. the part # looks right, but that's not the clip I'm talking about.

See the 47748 in image below... its the skinny metal wire - kinda like a paper-clip was straightened out and then bent a little bit Hard to explain. It's the vertical wire that keeps the pad pins from slipping out.

 

But now this image says its 47749 .. I don't get it. I don't know the part # But its that skinny wire holding the pins in place - the wire ends slip into the little holes on the tips of the pins:
