S-runner trans (R150) in a 4x4?

This is probably a silly question, but I'm just curious if it would work. I saw a 99 4x4 That's basically a massive pile of shit for sale cheap, but it has no engine or transmission. My buddy has an s runner engine and trans they had forever just sitting around collecting dust, so I'm wondering Is that set up would work in a 4x4.
I'm aware we obviously would not have the four-wheel drive, But the truck doesn't have any front diff or axles anyway. I guess basically we would build a manual prerunner.

Would this even work? My understanding the transmissions are pretty much identical aside from the transfer case so would it just be plug and play?

The engine is the V6 5vz in the Srunner, correct?

Did the 4x4 truck have the V6 as well? If so, that should connect just fine. As for the transmission, you’ll probably have to move or fab a new crossmember and a custom length driveshaft.

and probably several other things like the correct ECU and so on.

 

Worst case you have to build a custom trans mount and have a driveshaft made. If the truck is cheap enough go for it
