Just trying to be safe, I would like to know where is the best place to put the hydraulic jack to lift up both front tires off the ground and then where to set the jack safety stands? Also, how may tons should the hydraulic jack be to lift it up properly and how many tons should the jack stands support? Do I need to take the front skid plate off to do this? Thanks for your help any pic's would be great ~

    This is from the link:

    (c) When jacking up the vehicle, first release the
parking brake and move the shift lever to N.

I am used to leaving it in Park when lifting a vehicle with a jack. Wouldn't the truck want to roll off the jack if you pushed it a little?

I could be wrong but I think that's when useing a floor jack to lift both front or rear tires...helps keep the weight of the vehicle firmly on the pad of the jack. The tires on the ground rotate a bit as the opposite end comes up. Make sure your on a level surface, block the tires, and always use jack stands. While lifting from the frame where only one tire is lifted I think the parking brake method still applies.

edit...I just noticed that it mentioned being in neutral also. How can that be done with these automatic's...leave the key in the ignition turned to accessories?

Depending on truck and mods (tires, grille guard etc.) your truck is sitting right at 2 tons, you may be able to go 2 tons, but three to safe. I tried a 2 ton jack and got about an inch off the ground and it was extremely difficult to jack up. I returned it and got a 3, no problems.

I wouldn't put it N, I would release the break, I do chock the wheels from rolling back. The jack should have wheels to allow slight movement from the action of jacking. I could be wrong but, I don't want my vehicle moving too much.

Leave the key in or use the release (the little button cover to the left of your shifter, pop it off and stick in your key).

Good point on the floor jack having wheels. What's the purpose of being in neutral with the parking brake off then...I don't see a issue as long as the jack has some movement.

After reading the link from above, here is my take:

When you chock the wheels in front and back of the wheel, this will keep the vehicle from moving forward and back.
However, you want the axle to have movement, because when you jack one end, the other rotates. Hence putting in Neutral allows rotation.

Interesteing, I have never looked at it this way. And yes, the wheels on the jack then allow for any movement on the lifted end while jacking.

Thanks everyone lots of good advice. Does anyone have pictures showing the positions how they lifted and supported their truck with jack stands.
