A determined thief will get your truck. But if you put enough barriers up you make them at least think about other less-protected targets.

I used to have kryptonite chain for my bike when i was in college years, before I could afford a car. You would be surprised how many failed attempt marks i have seen on that chain, all kinds of cut , shatter marks on the chain. For a bike that cost me less than the chain itself.

I use a club that goes on brake and steering wheel. Also disengage my fog signal, hit lock, hold lock, two unlock taps.

The whole purpose of anti-theft devices in my opinion is to show the potential thief that he's better off looking for an easier car to steal.
That's why I'm using 2 devices: HD Steering wheel lock (not the kind that is shown earlier in the post since it takes 5 seconds to brake them) and also a Brake and Gas paddle locks.
Both are made from steel, and both require a grinder power tool to brake. Of course both can be broken but it takes time and makes a lot of noise so my guess the thief will rather deal with a less complicated car to steal.

Agree with other TW members. The only purpose of antitheft devices is to buy time. Anything you can do to make it a bigger PITA to steal your truck is worthwhile. But understand that at the end of the day, nothing is 100%.

Government-rated safes (eg GSA Class 5) - the kind that pharmaceutical companies store narcotics in - are rated by how long they take to defeat.

I use a club turned around with the cylinder pointed toward the dash for a low-cost, better than nothing approach. It's also handy to push out the passenger's sideview mirror when I forget to unfold it before buckling up.

some of the old-timer thieves use to use freon to freeze a security chain or lock ... and shatter it... of course freon is super expensive and next to impossible to get... and can cause severe damaging frostbite if not used properly...

Alternatively, park in a garage. As coworkers have taught me with tools-- of it can't be seen, it's far harder to 'borrow'.

Tools and vehicles alike, no one goes hunting in enclosed unfamiliar spaces unless they're really desperate. And then that's what police reports and insurance is for.

Unfortunately (for us, fortunately for stalking victims) iPhones have been updated so you can now locate unfamiliar AirTags with the precision finding feature (the arrow and distance that points you to them).

Just FYI. Even if you remove the speaker you may not have long before the thief locates and ditches it.

I tried scraping off the UWB antenna as well but this only somewhat reduced the range, still works well enough to find in my truck.

Short of sitting in your truck with an arsenal, they will get the truck. Do what you can and know that life sucks sometimes.

Agreed, just adding that tidbit for people who are about to drop $30 on an AirTag.

I use a club and an AirTag, neither of which are going to stop anyone who’s the least bit determined. But I probably wouldn’t bother with an AirTag anymore.

I can vouch for this brand. I use them. I like the remote activated relay... :D

Just had my GMC broken into for the 3rd time in front of my house.

Nothing will stop a thief if they see what they want. All the anti device will not stop nor slow them down if they really want it, they will tow it when you’re deep in your sleep. You’ll wake up to an empty driveway unless it’s park in your garage.

Apple air tag is decent but will only function if the thieves carry an iPhone. Best solution for a speedy recovery is a standalone GPS system that uses its own batteries and not tied to the vehicle’s battery. Live tracking with every minute update and a call when your vehicle moves away from an armed position.

There is ALWAYS one of you. Someone always say "all your efforts are useless!"

    YOU ARE WRONG

ANY deterrent is effective. It's a sliding scale on both sides. The best deterrent will not stop a determined thief. But criminals are usually MORONS. My GMC truck was broken into last week. you know what stopped him after being in the truck for 5 seconds?.... He honked the horn and it scared him... Score one for a functional horn?

You got that right, there's ALWAYS one of me and a horn will not deter all the time. HAHA

You can add all the anti-stuff you want but if your truck has something they truly want, nothing you can do to slow or stop them by any means. They will tow your vehicle in the dead of night and now what?

You may not be a moron, but most thieves are... simple deterrents work.
