It started from the beginning at Lowes'. The stuff was stacked a little higher so I had to drag it down carefully. Tried at first to grab the two combined sheets and put it on my cart. Nope  Had to rip the strips off and put it on the cart one by one. Of course almost half a dozen employees seen me loading my cart and just kept walking by... I did keep the strips with me and threw it in their trash can instead of leaving it lay there.

Then loading all 12 sheets into my truck. I will not do it like this again, my poor truck

Started unloading it at home and gave up halfway and just worked out of the back of the truck. Definitely worked my arms that day.

Ugg. I feel your pain. Ever since our move up here over 20 years ago, I find myself doing alot of things by myself…

For the toilet, I got it into my truck ok then used a trolley I had to get it into my basement (garage door is so handy).

I started to think - kill myself getting the unopened box upstairs or open it up in the basement, check each part for damage, then carry them up individually.

For the most part I'm on my own. I remember loading and unloading that heavy Kohler toilet a couple years ago. It's not so much the weight, it's the awkwardness.

Doing this project in the garage partly to get more experience with drywall. The main bathroom needs completely gutted due to the amount of nicotine that had built up over the years. After two rounds of oil base primer and then a round of shellac primer it still bleeds. Using the shellac was a mistake as it completely seals and doesn't let the paint "breath" so I got some nice little peeling going on. I want to convert the tub into a shower anyways and the old 60's tile on the walls is ugly. The grout is also permanently nicotine stained, but no sense in re-grouting if I'm gonna rip it out.

After all this work it doesn't make sense to put the house on the market. Not to mention I'll probably never see another 3% mortgage rate again o_O

In other news you didn't expect to hear today, smoking while on the throne is quite an experience. The cigarettes are gone, I no longer desire them.
It's one of those things like riding in a door-less jeep with a step on the outside for your foot to rest while driving, causing direct airflow to the undercarriage that makes you think you've figured something out not everyone else knows about...

Congratulations on kicking that habit

A friend of mine smoked, drank like a fish, and did drugs. Quit them all, he said smoking was the hardest to give up.

He said his daughter told him he stank is what it took to finally quit.

I got a text about upgrading my phone from a Galaxy S22 to a Galaxy S25 Ultra for what works out to be $180 ($5/month for 36). Worked through adding it to my cart, shipping, etc. Entered Visa info and it was rejected. My wife received a text about the purchase that she needed to essentially approve it.

I'm just going to stop by an actual store on my way home.

She gives me crap for having security cameras at the house so I know what's going on and that I LoJacked her car so I know where she is. Guess this is only fair.
