So I got this letter from Toyota, they want to use my truck for exhaust emissions testing. It seems legit, www.toyota.com/IUVP matches with the letter.

They run it on a dyno for 150 miles, keep it for 1-2 weeks, pay me $300, give me a loner, and they pick up and return the truck at my house.

Has anyone participated in this program before? How was your experience? Was the car returned the same as before?
I found an old post, look like they raised the incentive check from $100 to $300.

Interesting. I'd consider it. Wife is very protective of the truck so she may have objections.

Why do they need it 1-2 weeks to put 100-150 miles on it? I drive 100ish miles a day to and from work.

Yours being a manual if something were to go wrong it might be hard or take longer to replace. It sounds like it could be an interesting experience, myself I'd be to lazy to bother with the whole thing.

Not a chance. Let them get their own truck to test.

If your main source of income is donating plasma, and a fancy meal is some vienna sausages from the can, go for it.

Imagine anyone else came to the house and was like, "Hey, I would like to borrow your truck for a week to run some tests on it. I'll give you $300 and give you a brand new loaner" you'd tell them to pound sand.

How rough they drive it was my main concern, otherwise I would do it without hesitation.

From what I could find it's on a dyno, and they are collecting emissions data. There's three phases:

City driving is simulated by a cycle called the Federal Test Procedure (FTP). The cycle has an average speed of 21.2 mph, lasts approximately 30 minutes, and is conducted in three phases.

Highway driving is simulated by the Highway Fuel Economy Test (HFET or HWY). This test has an average speed of 48.3 mph and lasts just under 26 minutes.

The US06 cycle was created to test vehicles under high speeds and acceleration conditions that more closely resemble modern driving habits. The test lasts 20 minutes with an average speed of 48.4 mph and a brief high speed of 80.2 mph.

That doesn't sound too bad. What I'd like to know is how fast they accelerate and if they are going to redline. I hope they'd have someone who can drive a manual competently also.

You got a point there. Finding someone who can drive a manual correctly employed at one of the largest auto manufacturers in the world is probable pretty remote.
