How do you like your Camry?

I’m looking at new Camrys for my commuter once I have to start heading into the office daily. (Not worth it to buy used over new, prices still crazy)

my truck would be about $700 a month in gas at $3.00 a gallon.:bananadead:

I absolutely love the Camry… mines an older one, it’s a ‘97 but only has 140k on the clock. It was my grandmothers car she bought new couple decades ago… I inherited it after she could no longer drive. But I keep fresh oil in it and try my best to keep up with little things here and there as they happen.

I may or may not have also tinted the windows, added an Injen intake, sat it on 1.5” lowering springs and added a front upper strut-bar…:rofl:

That’s probably still an $18k car at this point :rofl:

im lookin for something that’s going to be comfortable. I don’t know if a corolla is going to cut it. Not that I’ve sat or driven either yet. Still have to see what the next month or two brings.

Choices are probably limited to a Corolla or Camry. The new Camrys have an edge in mpg as well.

This is small compared to today’s cars, I’d definitely say a newer Corrola is larger without hesitation. But it’s great for a commuter and drives flawless (for an almost 30 years old car). I hope she goes another 100k plus with minor maintenance. I’d definitely recommend looking at an early 2000’s Toyota and just doing minor maintenance and running the crap out of it… they don’t disappoint, that’s for sure!! The early Avalons are really nice too!!

I've been getting 16.5-17 running around local and 19-21 on long drives since adding the 33's and lift. Drove out to Portland, PA (NJ border northeast of Easton) for work last week and was at 22 when I got there and 19.6 for round trip. This morning I drove out to Lancaster, from there to Towson, back to Lancaster and then home and ended up with 19.1.

Yep that’s almost identical to my mileages in those different scenarios and I’m also on 33’s and a lift.

Yea, almost all my drives with the truck are just around town these days… hardly any/none on highway. The lift and 33–E’s definitely don’t help! But it is a truck, so it’s kinda expected.

2021-2024's are the sweet spot. We have a '23 non-hybrid and despite being an ex Avis rental car, is a really nice car. 40mpg is not out of the realm in the warmer months.

2015-2017's are nice, but do tend to burn a shittone of oil if it was changed at the recommended 10K. We had a 2015 and it was a solid car. Oil changes, tires, and a set of brake in 30K miles (used to live up on a mountain and the factory rotors are not really capable of heat)

2011-2014ish? Had the same engine as the '15-'17, but the torque converter is guaranteed to go out. I think some 2015's are affected.

2018's have an issue where the early models blow the engine. Not a very common issue, but something to be aware of. It was the first year of the 8 speed automatic and I think there was an update to the shifting programming. Not sure if they were failing; I don't think so.

Sorry for rambling on, but it might help.

Appreciate the info. I’ve joined a few camry groups to see what they’re saying too. I don’t want a monthly payment, but anything under about 700 is saving money…

Just waiting to see what happens these next few weeks
