Hey everyone! Going to build out my Taco and have selected most of the major systems I am thinking of going with. Budget is not an issue, but looking for any suggestions from the knowledgeable folks on these forums. Building for trails and general off roading. No rock climbing or overlanding.

Also, can anyone suggest a reputable, experienced shop in Boise Idaho to help with the build?

    2022 TRD Off Road

Current mods: CAI and cat back exhaust.
    18" Method race wheels

    PROPOSED MODS:

    FRONT BUMPER: LINK
C4 Fabrication Tacoma Hybrid Front Bumper

    WINCH: LINK
    SmittyBilt GEN3 12K SYNTHETIC

    REAR BUMPER: LINK
Relentless Fabrication Tacoma "Black Diamond Series" High Clearance Rear Bumper

    SUSPENSION: LINK
    Bilstein B8 8112 0.6-2.5 inch Tacoma (05-23) Lift Kit
    Old Man Emu ball joints
    Front and rear bump stops
*Using my stock springs as I wont be carrying anything in the bed nor have a rack for overlanding etc..

    HOOD: LINK
Seibon TS Style Carbon Fiber Hood for 2022 Toyota Tacoma
*This will save me about 40lbs over the stock hood and offset some of the bumper and winch added weight

    PROCHARGER: LINK
Why procharger and not Magnusoon? Read reviews, having a 6 speed I think woks best plus if the system blows, it's not sitting on top bolted to my engine so limping home if a catastrophe occurs is a better possibility.

    REGEARING: LINK
5.29 gearing. Research seems to indicate this to be the best option to keep the truck in the power band and for any added weight I might add down the line.

    TIRES: LINK
    Baja Boss® M/T

    COMPRESSOR: LINK
ARB Twin Motor Onboard 12V. *The only unknown is if the Procharger would interfere with mounting this in the motor bay. Might have to relocate to under the back seat.

side note: 3rd gen auto trans and manual trans both have 6 speeds

IMO you would be better served with 17in wheels and some better tires. Those Radars are Chinese made and weigh a ton with no additional benefit beyond aesthetics.

If you're gunna run a heavy E rated tire, might as well get something with better wet and dry traction, durability and overall quality (KO3's, Duratracs, Mickey Thompsons, etc).

Around $17,500 plus shipping, tax, and installation.

Your gonna need an extra wheel for the spare unless you're already running tires that size.

    Good luck!

Appreciate the feedback. Truck came with the 18" wheels, so I can certainly opt for a 17" rim. As for a China made tire, no thanks. I'll switch to the Baja Boss® M/T.

Thanks, From TacoDell60's suggestion, switching to a 17" rim from 18" and running Baja Boss® M/T. Going to put the spare in the bed with a tie down system.

More sidewall = more better for off roading so can air down without jumping off a bead, also with 17in wheels the sky is the limit in terms of choices for tires

I'd say ditch the hood, add the front Locker, ditch the ProCharger, add a tune. :notsure:

I'm still trying to wrap my head around putting a carbon fiber hood on an offroad truck to save 30#'s....

    Why not everything?!?!

    Which locker would you suggest?
*And I plan on a tune once everything is done.

Stock hood is boring and heavy. This mod isn't for using one's head so much as ones emotions ; )

Non scoop factory hood is the best looking one I've seen so far.

If budget is not an issue where's the warn zeon?

Your still going to want a leaf pack to account for the bumper weight and to get lift height.

Interesting build… not my style but different strokes for different folks. My critique is as follows thus far… -1 point for referring to it as a Taco, but you gained 1 point back because I didn’t see any mention of raptor lights.
