I didn't say they don't work. I simply say if they see what they like, all the added deterrents will not stop them. If it's a simple joy ride, then yes, they will just move to the next easiest vehicle to steal. Look up San Francisco and Oakland break in, residents are leaving the window roll down and door open so the thieve can comb through it without damaging the vehicle. Or when high dollar vehicle being stolen, thieves are arming themselves with guns, pointing it to the front door. So is it really worth it? No. Just get good insurance and move on.

How do you explain this btw. My buddy's rock crawler was locked inside his yard, parked on the side of the house with a large dog roaming the yard. He has security camera, motion detection lights, and a kill switch on his truck. At 3am, a recovery truck backed in with no license plate, shot the dog, cut the lock, hooked the truck and left. No one heard the commotion and he didn't even notice his truck missing until his wife called and told him after he left for work. All the added feature and yet they towed it. No license plate and face were cover, now what? Insurance paid him 1/2 of the value and told him to kick rock.

I’ll accept that challenge with my big jaw set of vice grips.

Well then you are just F'd

But my argument is that every time someone asks about deterrents there is always someone saying what you said. You argue that it's pointless, and it's not. Deterrents work... But sometimes you are just F'd

    I knew that was coming...
In all the security camera footage I've seen of people breaking into cars in driveways, never do they have a big set of vise grips. I think we're safe.

vise grip might be hard. Will probably be easier with the oil filter wrench with a rubber belt band. Stench it up, tighten it down and drive away lol

@nircom Please, please make sure you securely stow those suckers after removing them. If they are loose in your vehicle they become lethal projectiles in an accident. Brother had a co-worker get hit by a loose item in their truck and it killed them. Don't be that guy....

You gotta admit, it would be morbidly funny.

"Man killed by his own anti theft device in hard braking incident, days after failed burglary attempt"

I also laugh at myself when I fall down a flight of stairs.
