I appreciate that. I don't think there is any production in San Diego. I do think it is complete mis-information. My son is an engineer. Lives in Sand Diego and is really trying to get into the automotive business. I asked my Aunt to ask around as she has some high level contacts from when she worked there and they have also said nothing in SD. He doesn't want to leave the area but when a few started posting this I got a little excited for a minute but I think it is all just some bad info from salesmen that usually know nothing.

San Diego would likely be your port of entry. So you saw it listed as a stop/update point.

    Mine temp string was 28C141
My vehicle was built in calendar week 31.

You can't search a specific VIN. But you can pull up a listing (or your old one if you have it bookmarked) and directly modify the URL to your intended one. When you're on the vehicle details page, the URL contains the VIN/tempVIN

Light, relatively speaking. There’s nothing light about the full automation required to assemble 250k Tacomas a year.

I have to check with my SA if I've been assigned a final VIN. According to your temp VIN, your build should start the 12th week of the year (or week of March 16), where mine should have begun week 11 (or March 9). When is your delivery date, and which part of the country will your truck be delivered? I'm on the East Coast

Full Automation to Fully Assemble 250K a year is entirely different than the full automation required to stick a few large components together at what ever the minimum amount of assembly is to get out of the tariff.

If the tariff allowed for it they could arrive here fully assembled and just be badged in the US and called done. But I have a sneaky suspicion it has to hit some threshold of meaningful assembly to reach "Manufactured in Mexico and Assembled in the USA" criteria. Or does the tariff require ALL Manufacturing and Assembly to be done in the US? Engines, Chassis, Electrical, Interior? No idea.

I have no clue on delivery date, dealer said truck build this week. They also told me and I did see it on his screen that it was San Diego also for build. I knew that wasn't right but I figured Baja and ship to San Diego. I am in Tennessee so truck will go to Cincinnati and the 18 wheeler to dealer in Tennessee.
