I am losing my mind because I can’t get the oem reverse camera to work. This is my bros Tacoma. It’s a 2018 Tacoma non jbl. Joying unit is brand new 8gb/128gb. I’m on raise Toyota Toyota. Steering wheel controls work. When I put it in reverse it switches to a black screen. So it knows what I want but there is no image. It’s just blank. Rear video to 24 pin.. I just can’t get this to work. Can in can out is correct.. what am i missing?

I had joying send me a new canbus, and the backup camera worked afterwards.

I have read a lot of this thread and used the search, but can’t seem to see if anyone has confirmed that the Joying unit will work in a 3rd gen truck that has the base radio. I know I would need the larger bezel, but do all the connectors work or do I need to get adapters. Joying Customer Service is just telling me it won’t fit, and that I need the universal head unit and an adapter harness. They don’t seem to understand the concept of getting a bezel that will fit. My base radio is terrible, I have to reboot it every time I want to connect my phone to the truck and the touchscreen barely works.

It seems they provide the harness with HU. Should be plug&play
Also, looks like they figured usb adapter to interface with factory usb port..
You may need an adapter to hook GPS factory antenna to HU if dont like a supplied antenna.
Other than the bezel, you should be good to go.

Don’t crucify me here guys, but there’s 91 pages. So I have had the Joying in my 3rd gen for about 5 months now without issue. AC went out on me and had the evaporator replaced. As saying goes go in for one problem, come out with another.

My backup anytimecamera works. But it won’t come on when I shift in reverse. I have to use the AR reverse button. Also my steering volume controls do not respond. Everything else works fine

When they removed the radio and put it back in, they probably swapped some wires. Remove the radio and check your plugs.

ok, they might of screwed up the settings then. Im not familiar with the new android headunits, but if you go into settings, there should be a "setup car" or "canbus" setting. From there make sure you have toyota and tacoma (if its a option). The old models didnt have tacomas, so I think mine is setup as a rav4 or something.

But it does sound like a canbus issue

@esizzle777 - do you have a multimeter for testing the wiring? Are you using Android Auto or CarPay (in the video)?

The Joying headunit pairs to a phone via Wifi connection generated from the headunit. However, there is no internet being provided through this Wifi connection. As a result, my phone recognizes the Wifi connection and prioritizes it over mobile data. Therefore, I cannot stream music/navigate maps/etc. due to this Wifi connection - although sometimes the "use without internet" option pops up which solves the issue. It's not granted that the option pops up.

Anyone experienced this and have a fix?
