I bought this in hopes of gaining a wee bit more control over some things in the truck. Happy overall except I did not appreciate the bait and switch tactic in the app - you need the subscription to unlock the optional adjustments on your truck.

Easy. Paid one month. Plugged it in today and it still worked even on an expired subscription.

    YMMV

I was looking at Carista also but put the purchase on hold while I look for something that doesn’t have a subscription. A one month charge for when I do need it isn’t that bad, but prices and subscription plans never seem to stay the same. If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.
I didn’t see it listed in the screen shots, but did you get access to the piped in exhaust sound? I really want to tune that off and the seatbelt chime. Drives me nuts.

FYI, this is well documented in the forum. I agree that the subcription is a PITA, but if you can use it once, set everything the way you want it and unscubscribe then that's probably good enough in my book. Down the line, if I want to subscribe again to enable more of the nanny features because I want to sell the truck or because I am more feeble in my advance years, so be it.

Spending $40 just to get rid of the seat belt chime is totally worth it. Heck I would have spent $100 lol Canceling the subscription is super easy.

It does not. The adapter doesn't change the options, only the speed at which it communicates.

Think of it more akin to USB 1 vs USB 3, or BLE 2 vs BLE 4 or 5.

Having the Evo, I can't imagine how long it might take to scan all 34 ECUs in the truck. It takes between 3 & 5 minutes on the Evo.

Thanks for the info. I ordered one from Amazon. Did you set your fob to open all windows with a long hold on the unlock button?

I don’t understand the bait and switch comment. There’s a hardware and software component. Both cost money though the software is free for the first month. Cancel before the end of the first month.

    That isn’t a trick.

I did. Works great when I remember it’s there but I never actually use it since I almost never carry the fob

Other similar devices by other brands (AEV for example) don’t play this bullshit. You buy the dongle and you get the advertised functionality. Nothing else to buy.

Carista works fine, but they pull a cash grab to unlock the device.

It’s a complete bait and switch because it’s not advertised up front. In fact it’s shady business.
