I am interested in some feedback from you folks. I recently purchased a Dayco Harmonic Balancer for the truck from RockAuto. Unfortunately it came in what I would describe as unusable condition. It had obviously been dropped prior to being packaged up for shipment. I can't be certain but I think this is a drop shipment (no pun intended) directly from the manufacturer/distributor. Here are a couple of pics that show some of the damage:

    IMG20250302142201.jpg
    IMG20250302142538.jpg

To RockAuto's credit, they allowed me to return it and promptly shipped me a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement, though not quite as bad as the first one is also damaged. And damaged in a very similar way. Here are some pics of the replacement.

    IMG20250312162151.jpg

I am not sure what to do here. I am guessing RockAuto will allow a return of this one too. I am curious what you all would do? Just use it as is and hope for the best? Go for another replacement and hope I get an undamaged one? Or give up on Dayco altogether, bite the bullet and go for an OEM one? With the 25% off sale going on right now, an OEM one is roughly twice the price (about $400) of the Dayco unit from RockAuto.

Little bit off topic, how often do you guys replace those on these trucks?

We replaced them as little as 60-80k miles on our LS motors cause they wobble like a MFer.

Good question. Not sure what the maintenance interval should be. I only know that mine is original at 265K miles. I am doing this as a precaution. I have not observed any wobble.

I guess I have an excuse to get a motor stand now
(heads are cracked between the valves but the block has been machined so that's a plus).

Did you just open a window?

I’m honestly surprised more people don’t get CO poisoning from their cars with all the leaky shitboxes out there.

I thought that was cats. IIRC I got a P0401 when my header was cracked in my old 3RZ Tacoma.
