I'm distracted from projects I'd like to get done... but hey, I'm retired and it doesn't really matter how long they take in most cases. Especially the big ones. But the kids hit us with a "must do" camping trip this June and I tore apart the last trailer I built so we have nothing to camp in... and I refuse to sleep on the ground. So now I'm starting to work on another trailer. This will be the third I've built so in some ways it will be easier but in some ways harder because I'm holding myself to higher standards.
As a retired rancher I go to a site for cattle producers quite a bit, and a couple of others. I quit Facebook long ago and was glad to be done with it... but an account I'd left dormant cropped up and I've been playing with it enough to think I should let it go dormant again.
    What do you read?

My reading list is eclectic. Currently reading Stephen Hawkings A Brief History of Time (it’s about physics). I like books about science, astronomy, nature, physics. I like rereading American classics by authors like Jack London, Mark Twain, Steinbeck, George Orwell, etc. I like exciting modern fiction by authors like Clive Cussler, Michael Connelly, John Grisham, James Rollins, Vince Flynn, Alistair MacLean etc etc. I also like history but haven’t read history for awhile. I just love books.

I wrote some books after an editor convinced me to, after she read my first. We worked together to promote them for years and they never took off. I loved science fiction as a kid and read voraciously. Also historical westerns and anything with animals. London, Twain, Orwell, and Kipling, Pearl Buck, Will James, and Zane Grey. Lately Tom Clancy and Grisham. But after writing I found my interest in reading was diminished. I rarely read anymore. I find myself editing anything I read. I do need to read the History of Time. Hawking was an amazing man. There's a book I enjoyed from Reader's Digest, The Last Two Million Years. Light reading but interesting.

    Good morning all. :pccoffee:

I used to read a lot more but I've been in a bit of a slump with it lately. I generally read for the pure entertainment of it so Grisham, James Rollins, Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Lee Child, and my main favorites Harlan Coben and Steve Berry.

Good morning all. Been so busy making donuts. LOVE my job. So many cool projects we get into. Space center, Disney, Universal, big forestry projects, heavy equipment.

So anyhoo. Been looking at replacements for my Tacoma.<gasp>. I've been putting a lot of hours in on the road, and sadly I must say my beloved Tacoma has not proven to be a great truck for me in my situation. I gave it a good go.
Great truck for be-boppin' around, but not for my work needs. Looks like I will be moving away from the Toyota trucks all together. Cant find a last gen Tundra in my price range that doesn't already have 80K on it. Looking hard at late model Ram 4x4s, specifically the Hemi Rebel. Likely I will only have the Tacoma for a few more days.

Hope all have been well. Have a great Thursday.

    Good morning old people,
As predicted, the next storm hit at 4 am (2 hours ago, as I type this), waking me up... I just layed in bed hoping the rain would put me back to sleep. Oh, nooooo it didn't (lol)! At 5 am, the rain really amped up in power... So, that does it, I am up and now on my computer. My dear wife is sleeping happily through the ruckus of heavy rain.

We need it, and getting over an inch per storm is good for our reservoirs and will turn the normally brown hills bright green. San Diego gets an average of 10 inches a year and I think we are close?
Typically, we get most of our rain in late winter to early spring. As a rule (lol) the rain ends by May 1 and other than a rare tropical storm in the summer, the rain doesn't fall again to November, but usually February to April is when we see most rain here. Naturally, the longer we live, the more extremes we will witness and that changes what we came to think as being 'normal' growing up here.

How about the volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis (what we grew up calling 'tidal waves') we have seen happen living this long!!!???

    Have a great day,
    67.5 year-old me!

@ndoldman59 i has my left knee replaced on the 5th of February and I am deep into the rehab process.

Good morning. Yesterday took a simple short walk around the Cul-de-sac and it wore me out a lot more than I thought it would. I could feel the walk in my back and shoulders. Walking around the house and outside are totally different animals so I am going to try to do an outside walk every day. Today will be another major step, for me, going to get a haircut.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/spring awakeners. Our acanite *finally* came up, we usually see it peeking through snow in February. I guess it really has been a harsh winter.

I got the rear struts back for the Elan yesterday, so I will be able to finish up the suspension work there and get it back on its wheels. It's been a few months, plus since I've had the car it has had a broken suspension, so getting it back on the road will be my first chance ever to properly experience the handling of a Lotus Elan. To say I'm looking forward to it is a HUGE understatement.

@Sprig you might try a sample of Neal Stephenson in your reading. He mixes science with fiction with history in a way that I really enjoy. "SeveneveS" is a recent one that enjoyed some success. But I like pretty much everything bearing his name, even his early stuff such as "Snowcrash" and collaborations he's done with other writers.
