whats the custom sramano? a friend just got a ranger last week. his other bikes have shimano and he's not a fan of the gx shifter. did you make a shimano shifter work with a sram drivetrain?

It’s hard to tell how much of a difference the bars make. All new to me on this bike are the Ti bars, Mattoc fork, and Berd spokes. It all definitely seems to take the sting out of the chunky areas.

I’m using a Shimano XTR shifter and derailleur, sram XX1 chain and Absolute Black sram chainring with an E13 Helix R cassette. It was basically everything I found deals on and figured out how it could work together.i literally made it up, i have no clue if Sramano is an actual thing lol
The GX shifters kinda suck. Simply upgrading to the XO1 or XX1 shifter makes a big difference and also gives adjustment of the lever angle as well. I had a rail29 before this with X01 mechanical and it shifted very cleanly. I know Jenson had some OE X01 shifters for a while for cheap. Also switching to Shimano isn’t expensive these days with everything cheap as eff. Especially if it’s pieced together.

I've seen some "hybrid" drivetrains...be curious to see how the XX1 chain plays with the pulleys on the XTR derailleur.

We set up an XT (cassette, chainring) with an AXS GX derailleur and KMC 12 chain that worked great.

Experimented with an AXS ET GX derailleur/GX cassette and chain...pulleys on the AXS ET GX derailleur did NOT work. T-Type likes it own sandbox.

It seems to be working well with the Shimano pulleys so far. I read on the e13 website that the Helix R Cassettes work best with sram 12 speed chains. And it was cheaper get a 3-bolt chainring for a sram chain than it was for a shimano HG+ chain (used in this case). There was an eBay seller than had XX1 chains for ~$20 shipped a couple months back so I figured it was worth it to try it out. It seems to all be playing nicely together so far. Set up required a more fidgeting with the cable tension to get it the shift all the way down to the smallest cog. Altogether, my drive train is lighter than full XX1 or XTR kits and probably cost me less overall (by being patient and finding deals of course. BF sales helped out some as well)
