I'm glad my immediate supervisor is the one that approves time off. She isn't picky and trusts that we get our work done

Usually when a part arrives in Memphis from Dubai on Tuesday (night), the package is out for delivery the next morning.

I might be able to pay expedited delivery from my local dealer (List Price + Fee) for next day delivery providing the warehouse in Houston has the item.

But that means I will need to make a trip to go pick up the item from the dealer.

If I order on Saturday night, the part is usually on my back door before 11 AM on Tuesday.

This seems to work best for Land Cruiser parts that Dubai has in stock.

Not all the unicode symbols require a numpad, they usually have an alternate too. I used to have a cheat sheet but honestly unless you're in MS Word it is just faster to google and copy/paste.

Yeah my immediate supervisor signs off on it first and then it used to go from him to the payroll person for processing...but I guess it always ended up going through HR in the end so maybe they just cut out the middle person

I don't have a separate number pad on my desktop keyboard but that might just be a Mac thing. Usually it's just a matter of doing a function/command/number or letter combo but occasionally there are more unique ones...or I just figure copy paste is faster than trying to figure it out

Lucky for me I just request via Replicon and wait for the Sup to approve. Since I'm the only one in my department I don't have anyone else to worry about with conflicting days off so I've yet to be denied time off.

Yeah I'm the only one in mine too, never been denied a request before either especially since they cut my dept down to just me. Before I just had to make sure I wasn't conflicting too much with any big project our team was doing but now I'm the only one doing them so fuck it, I'll take time off when I want to lol.

Up until a year or two ago we had pretty soft PTO tracking--basically, it was up to the manager to watch for a person abusing the PTO policy. HR got involved when the state passed some new laws around PTO and sick day payouts. The gist was that PTO was an asset with tangible value so the org is obligated to pay out or roll over unused time. HR put a formal tracking in place for compliance.

That's just tracking though, managers are still responsible for approval. I can't imagine a good/legitimate reason for HR to want take over approvals...

I'm just waiting for the GTA6 release date so I can take that week off. Then when they push the date last minute I can be depressed about it on my vacation.

Hard to know if it will release before the West collapses into another depression or war.

I'm not sure which the better option is, war=booming business, but depression is probably the reset we deserve

That's how mine is, being salary and working outside of normally work hours sometimes, he lets me take half days without putting time in fairly regularly and doesn't care if I use sick or PTO when I do take time.

he always knows that I have back 160 hrs last year so I probably won't use it anyway

FedEx started out in Little Rock. The LIT airport and land location couldn't handle the expansion needs.

Memphis with the flat Mississippi delta land was a much better long term choice.

I remember there was a FedEx recruiter people were hooked up with when I graduated. I didn't want to move to Memphis.

They were doing a lot with NEC computers in those days. I wanted to stay with IBM. I almost went to work for EDS in Dallas. Though I have no regrets about how my career turned out.

The real key to success is to get yourself involved in an elaborate Ponzi scheme or start up your own pyramid scheme empire and know when to cut and run

don't listen to me I've been listening to too many fraud story podcasts
