    Say gun enthusiasts.
Do you think my 45 raptor ghost gun is a good trade for a brand new, in the box, Remington model 700 CDL in 300 Win Mag?
    This.....

What are you going to use the 300 Win mag for? IMO it's too much gun for deer. For bear, moose, or elk it's fine. Not to mention the recoil (which is not an issue for me, but it is for some) and the deafening blast. Gunbroker has the CDL in 300 Winnie for about a thousand bucks.

Neighbor was shooting one day so I walked over to chat. He was shooting with a Forman from work. They were both shooting 300Win Mags. They were having a hard time hitting a paper plate at 100 yards. They both were bleeding from the scope hitting them. I just laughed.

I hear both sides of some saying it is too big for deer, while others say it isn't.
Recoil and blast, I'm not worried about. The 300 is threaded for a silencer.

I'd be taking a bit of a loss. I have about $1400 into the 45 build. I saw $1100 for the Remington.
My issue with the raptor is it's f'n heavy. (300 Win Mag weighs 7#'s). Finding mags are slim to none. Plus I never use it.

It’s not too much for deer, assuming you prefer to make it into sausage.

minor downside to lightweight boltys, all the recoil goes into you. Probably not a huge deal but kind of less fun on a long range day. On the plus side, less shit to carry in the woods.

The one thing I've noticed when shooting. Target shooting you feel the recoil. Hunting you don't feel the recoil.
That's what I've experienced in probably 50 years of shooting and 45 years of hunting. It may be different for others.

Currently, for deer hunting, I shoot a Winchester XPR in 350 Legend.

When I was about 14 I had a relative with a 300 win mag and he kept hyping up how much recoil it had he kept telling me that I had to hold on for dear life and when I finally shot it I couldn't believe how not powerful it was lol. I was holding on like I was going to get kicked by a horse and It ended up being no big deal at all.

There are also legalities that want me to part with the 45.
Currently everything I own is legal.
The 45 falls under a category of rifles some would rather not have around anymore.
I just assume not have that lingering over my head in the event current laws change.
The other projects were purposely built to still classify as handguns.

I'll keep further discussion to campfire rings.

This discussion today and then some pics pop on FB memories. My oldest when she was learning how to shoot. First time ever with a gun.

I remember hunter safety but can't remember the 1st time I shot a gun.

The homes I grew up in always had a pellet gun or .22, resting up against a back door or patio door.

No exhaust re-route for me...at least not today. Drove to Sheboygan to the place that was recommended by 2 members, and within seconds of walking in the door, I get the impression the guy doesn't want to do it (as I'm standing at the counter, the owner points to my appointment and tells his employee: I have this fuckin' Tacoma shit to deal with now). All I have to say is: It's not a pleasure not doing business with you! ASS

I'm not sure what you mean by changing the lower.
    There's a 9mm, 5.56 and .308 Mil-Spec lower. All need a matching upper and bcg.
From there you can change barrels on the 5.56 and .308 platform.
    In 5.56 I have a 5.56 bcg and a .300 blackout barrel. Using .300 blackout ammo.
    45 raptor is in .308
I'm not familiar with any .308 compatible barrels shorter than 16".
