I initially thought that this was a complete York system, but it would appear that furnace shit the bed after roughly 11 years. The furnace is a Westinghouse (Nordyne)…

This guy stands guard at a property where I’ve been picking up scrap metal over the last couple of months; I have dubbed him “Heat Pump Puppy”…

Nonfunctional Honeywell portable A/C unit; I took a gamble and snipped a copper line, and there was no refrigerant in it, so it must have developed a leak at some point…

This appears to be some sort of condenser fan allows the unit to operate more efficiently…?

"In some portable air conditioners, a "water wheel" or slinger ring picks up condensate (moisture collected from the air) and flings it onto the condenser coils, where it evaporates, helping to improve cooling efficiency and address condensate removal."

I had to look it up as it is new to me. Wild what they do to get these things to "work".

It was about 80°F yesterday, and I was able to confirm that the 1964 Emerson Quiet Kool (EQK) window A/C that I bought in December most definitely works!

The 1964 EQK is for Amanda, and is without a doubt the nicest A/C unit I've ever gotten my hands on; I paid $50 for it. I do not save any A/C units newer than 1995, as that is about the time that quality started to drop. Most of the A/C units I get, working or not, are 1999 or newer and absolutely nasty. A prime example would be the 1980s Amana that I got for free about a year ago. It worked GREAT, but in addition to having mold, the basepan was rotted out and the compressor would have likely done an impression of the Hiroshima bombing if I'd put it in a window for a few years. The 1992 Whirlpool that I got for free also worked great, and that was destined for Amanda's window, but it was moldy, and even though I could clean it up Amanda did not want it after seeing how nasty it was; I also accidentally destroyed the styrofoam ducting when trying to clean it. Another important thing to note is that the majority of the A/C units I find are just sitting at the curb and I have no idea where they've been.
