After pumping up 3 flat tires, putting in a ready battery and adding some gas the wheezy old New Holland thrummed to life just like always. :)

Hopefully whatever it is it's off of the mower and not you.

Had to top up the transaxle in the old Ford, easy to do if you have the proper bottle.

Those familiar with household chores might recognize the original purpose of said bottle. ;)

That still strikes me as the weirdest place to use a snuggie.

But I guess gorging myself on popcorn while dissolving into the couch isn't very attractive either.

They say "If you want to get ahead, get a hat".

For me it is "If you want to get something done, get the Ford". She is old, 1975 +/- but tough and dependable. Plowed uncounted tons of snow over the years.

    20250313_181707.jpg

Not plowing snow today thankfully, plowing blow down.

    20250313_175213.jpg

There is a big widow maker hanging from the tree, I just piled the brush up underneath until I can pull it down.

    20250313_182709.jpg

    Widow maker

    20250313_182719.jpg

And after, looks a lot less bad, this is looking south, everything beyond the pile by the grape arbor is too wet to drive on still.

    20250313_175243.jpg

The section close to the road stays wet the longest, I couldn't do to much down there yet, this is looking east, same grape arbor on the left. Notice all the trees lean to the left (north), we get most of our weather from the south.

    20250313_182645.jpg

This was a real mess before. You can see the tree with the widow maker in the hedgerow.

I mowed the leaves on the upper trail with the New Holland, it felt good to show some progress.

    20250313_182730.jpg

After cleaning up the yard I got the brilliant idea to take the Ford down the lower trail to push the brush over the bank. Remember good old gravity?
Things like water and tractors flow down hill...

About 3/4 of the way down I tried to push past a good size tree top - it pushed back.

    :benchpress:
The old Ford & the old man slid in the mud over the edge... :censored:

I couldn't drive out because the tree was pushing back.

Walk to the garage (uphill), get the Makita chain saw, cut up the tree. SO THERE! :D

In a bit of poetic justice I used a section of the tree to lever the 900 pound tractor in the right direction.

Continued down the trail intending to turn around -- and ran out of gas. :censored::censored:

Walk back (uphill) to the garage and get a gas can. :ballchain:

Running again I headed back up hill to call it a day, about 6 hours worth. Remember that gravity thing, after 90 odd minutes the ground was noticeably softer.

    :mudding:

The old Ford clawed her way to within 50 feet of the driveway,

    20250313_175331.jpg

Fortunately Mrs Green was home, I gave her the choice - drive or pull the rope, she drove.

    20250313_175322.jpg

I told her to "put her boot in it and don't lift until you get to the driveway." :bikewhoops:

    The paradox of this place:
If you want to dig there is rock.
If you want to drive there is mud.

You can see how close I was to the drop off on the right of the photo, it is 5 or 6 feet down - this is about the same place I went over the edge with the ZT at midnight some years ago.

    20250313_181739.jpg

A ZT doesn't glide for crap in case you were wondering. :plane:

Good early Friday morning Wrenchmen, here I am, shop night watchman again. :(

Mrs Green has a cold, now I have a cold  and my back & legs are telling me that I might have overdone it yesterday - I guess pushing & pulling a 900 pound garden tractor uphill in the mud was a bit too much.

Hey @RustyGreen , it’s been a while since you brought up insomnia…. I’m wondering if daylight savings time might have something to do with it.
