    Hey All,

I installed the OME MT64 kit on my 2016 SR5 DCLB with heavy duty leaf springs. Immediately got vibrations, installed the ECGS bushing.

That seemed to fix that issue, but revealed another. Now I've got another rotational grind/clunk sound at slow speeds around 9mph. Braking, accelerating, turning, straight. Most noticed during 3pt turns. Feel it in the floorboard/pedals and a little in the steering wheel, and that helps you hear it. You can barely hear it from the passenger seat, but it is audible. Now I've got 300 miles since install.

This may have been happening before ECGS bearing, but didn't notice it over that noise. Drives without noise faster on main roads and completely fine on freeway.

Anyone have any ideas what that could be? Crawled under, pushed the driveshafts, seem not to budge. The CVs into the front diff have a little bit of play, could it be that? Was just told if no play in CVs that's an issue, so maybe not.

It's different than the noise from the new coils, when parked/driving you can hear them squeak, but they've got 300 miles, so I assume that will settle out. The noise I'm referring to doesn't happen while stopped and rocking the truck.

Other notes: During the OME MT64 install, I installed a driveline spacer to lower and help the angle. It definitely feels like the front end, I can hear the leafs from standing next to the truck and a buddy lets it roll and hits the brakes. It's not that feeling either. Not tied to brakes/acceleration/turning from what I can deduct.

Going to put it up on the lift Sunday, any suggestions on things to check/tighten would be appreciated!

Any suggestions welcome! Do your thing TW, thanks in advance!!

And I hope everyone's safe during this gnarly tornado outbreak 3/15/2025

Who ya gonna call? Ghost busters!

On a more serious note, have you considered the possibility that these noises are not actually evidence of a serious problem?

I'm callin y'all! lol. I'm hoping it's no big deal, but would like my "new" truck to be ok, and the pros who've had these experiences to hit me with anything that can help me if they've experienced this too. Hoping it's nothing also

Yep, I've learned everything I know about cars/trucks from my 1st gen and this forum. It's all a process! I feel like I beat that level and am starting on a new one with this truck

    That's a sweet rig

As far as clunks go I'm not nearly expert enough to know anything about what causes what. All my automotive knowledge has come from this forum as well, my third gen was the first new vehicle I've owned. Mine clunks on occasion but never been too much of an issue for me. I turn up the stereo and carry on. Good luck on your endeavors. God speed :amen:

Haha. Appreciate that, this forum has helped me in so many ways, I love my 1st gen- just trying to copy/paste what I've learned onto my 3rd gen and be able to travel like I did before! I'm headed from Nashville to the top of Michigan, Montreal and back in July. Trying to get this rig ready for the adventure, here's the map of our previous road trip :hattip:

Ziptied a gopro focused on the driver axle and replicated the noise...it's the coils! No outstanding grind/clunk. Just suspension settling in. Nothing to fix. The same noise that was bothering me while driving was replicated after I parked & my buddy and I got out of the truck at different times and the audio picked up the exact sound I was tracking. Best case scenario. Before the test drive, I put it in gear while up on the lift in 2&4wd and had the wheels rolling no noise at all at the target speeds, everything sounded tight & good, no extra noise. The sound only happens while driving on the ground.

    Anyways, closed case fingers crossed.

I've sent an email to ARB & talked with Mudify, where I bought the suspension from.

I'm 490 miles since install, going to re-torque everything Sunday. But THIS is the sound I'm referring to:

Talked with OME and haven't been really helped yet. They say it's while under load the strut is contacting the sway bar. Just sent them this video replicating the noise to prove that is not true. I'm wondering if it could be UCA through-bolt related?

Could be the new angle on the axles. Let them wear in for a bit.

Sighs allot of engineering that went into suspension components from oem. Im sure suspension aftermarket do their best but things were fine before the install. Uninstall items back to oem until suspect is found. Then call manufacturer and educate them...

Update here. Originally installed struts were pre-assembled by Mudify. ARB sent a new coil/shock loose, stating they don't pre install anything but the BP51 suspension, fine, I have a press & can assemble myself. I'm dealing with both companies trying to make this right.

After 1k miles, this is my strut after removing. The coil is very wonky, and not straight. The top hat is centered, but the coil is curved, so part of it rubs the shock, and the other side has a wide gap.

Pics yesterday after installing the new coil on the new shock, top hat centered, I've got a very similar looking strut, that I'm thinking will break in & rub worse and worse. Just like my previous experience.

This is my old strut- with 15k miles on it- the coils (obviously different brand) are perfectly straight/in-line with each other.

Has anyone else experienced coils built for their specific setup purchased bend sideways? I'm not attempting to put wildly different parts together here and seeing results of a random experiment. This is sold together as a kit. Is this multiple bad batches of coils? I've ran Nitrocharger sports on my 03 for 10+ys with zero complaints. Did their manufacturing change, or has anyone else see their product quality go down?

I'm also sending all of these pics to Mudify & ARB Support for feedback & will update here as this develops. The MT64 is not a cheap suspension, which is why I'm so shocked to see these results back-to-back..

    2k miles of rub here

2k miles vs 800 miles here
I was able to get a discount from Eddie at Mudify for BP51 suspension, and I'm shipping the MT64 front and back shocks back for a full refund.

They know of the issue now, and have at least 5 other cases that are the same. If you have this issue, press them to make it right for you. ARB was not helpful, Mudify was.

They sent the BP51s assembled, but you need a specific coil compressor to actually adjust, which I wasn't able to, and needed my truck operating. The goal is to get 15-20MM of thread above the top hat. They were shipped with 4mm above. Normal coil compressors do not work on these, if you care about the center of the shock..which is why we're all here in the first place. So i'm back basically stock height, floaty like a cadillac, until I can take my truck apart...again..and adjust. I would've gone bilstein from the get go, after going through all of this.

I got a new coil compressor from Amazon, and will update when I pull the coils out and adjust them, if it works - or not.

The BP51s seem like good quality, I've got 800 miles on them so far. I just need to adjust the fronts to my liking. No clunking/rubbing detected. It's finally quiet.

Thanks for the update! Contacted ARB and they are sending me new ones at no cost. They didn't ask much questions, so it seems they are aware of the problem now. Eddie over at Mudify told me the first iteration of coils were too narrow and ARB has since rectified the issue with wider springs.

Here's what mine look like, mine weren't making that much noise somehow and didn't notice till about 5k miles in.
