I bought one off Nate last fall and it wasn’t that stellar of a buyer experience. Do like the skid though

I know UHMW works well, especially for my use case. No questions about its viability, just the proper application methods. Nathan's gas tank skid works so well (thin too), because it's uniformly supported by the tank. The downfall of UHMW compared to steel and aluminum is that it needs additional supporting. I could probably go with 1" material, and span the same gaps as 1/4" steel, but that becomes prohibitively expensive.

That’s awesome. I have a similar philosophy regarding eventual plans for the rear of my truck. Keep a function bed, but back halve, link and brace the heck out of it. But I’ll settle for just hitting the dirt at this point haha.

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
If you compare to SXS, then you see they’re bolted in pretty much all over is the best I can think to describe. That way they’re supported and not flapping around while you’re driving. Personally with what I do with the truck, steel skids are my main protection and would not consider any other material. But if you’re not on the rocks, then a lighter material is something you could benefit from.

Stretched the legs today. Miles of wide open Beach to play on, got up to some decent speed (50 mph) and never found the bottom of the suspension. Caught some air in a few places. Truck did amazing and performed flawlessly without needing much shock fiddling, not that I would be able to tell any difference with my noobness. Going to link a video soon.

Fort fisher/south end. During the summer this place is packed for miles but it's the off season and from labor day to march 31st the park is open 24hrs. I plan on going back next weekend as well.

Aw man, that's like 30 minutes from my family's place. Adding it to the to-do list. Didn't realize there was a drivable beach so close to Wilmington.

For serious crawling use, yes. Aluminum is garbage and AR plate or mild is the way to go.

@colinb17, don’t bother with UMHW either. Regular mild will be fine for your use case and save the headache of working with AR plate.
