Extended cab room?

Anyone in here w/ an extended cab able to fit a baby sit back there? I live a long way from the dealer and haven't had a chance to go by and look at the room they have in the rear but if i could fit a forward facing child seat in the back this might be the option for me. I wanted a double cab but since i can't get it in the standard version(lowered) i'm looking to go this way.

 

My 2yr old grand daughter rides in the back of mine just fine. Theres even a hitch thingy for a car seat.

 

Do yourself a favor and get a double cab, I had an X-Runner before my current truck and yes a baby seat will fit, but its pain in the ass. Thats just my .02.

 

I used to use a baby seat in the back of a 98 Tacoma. It worked for a 2 or 3 years, the new Tacomas have a lot more room back there! I would do it, especially with the access doors.

 

This backseat is to small for any form of human life without discomfort.

 

I'm 6'1" and 220 lbs and I fit back there. I'm not saying I'd volunteer for the back seat on an extended road trip but it's big enough to get the job done.

 

i put one in my ext cab for my niece for a weekend had to do some babysitting it fit fine. the only problem was i had one of those small garbage on the back the passanger seat, so she kept emptying it out and making a mess in the back.

 

I have not tried this is my 08 prerunner access cab but it sure looks big enough, there's plenty of tiedowns, and I remember pages and pages of 'how to use a car seat' info specific to the access cab in the owners manual.

However - and this is from dad duty 10+ years ago - the specific car seat makes a big difference in different vehicles' back seats. You'd do well to take your car seat(s) there and try them out specifically, to be sure you know what you're getting into.

Also, one more thing, for a data point, it's way more than the room I had in my 86 extended cab Ranger way back when.

 

Yah wtf.... how is toyota gonna put two seats in the back of the access cab/making it an off road vehical and not put some head rests in,,, this would be a great MOD if anyone dares to take on that challenge but anyways, My 4 yr old girl has been in the back since 06 and she's just fine with is, just don't expect to have a clean back side of your passenger seat...mine is destroyed from the dirty shoe marks...lol but as far as safety its a go until they don't need that booster anymore and then no way without head rests...good luck.

 

Good to know, I am looking at a new body style access cab, and going to have my first in may, so I want to be able to get a child seat in the back. It won't be that often as we usually drive my wives car but it NEEDS to be able to get in there now and again.

That's one of the reasons im getting a taco, i have a 3/4 ton, dodge dielse now std cab. With only a drivers air bag. Want something newer, a little smaller and easy to drive.

I drove the taco and fell in love, its a mix between my old Jeep wrangler and a pick up. It's awesome. And even tho the payload suffers in a mid size. it will do what i need or use a buddys if i need to haul something larger.

I can't wait to sell my dodge, so I can seriously look at a new Taco!

If you use the BASE with a rear facing car seat the passenger will have to sit so close to the dash it really doesn't work well.

I sold my AC to get a DC just for that reason.. SO MUCH BETTER!!!
