Lot of public land around you?

I was looking at their latest ad, and inexpensive gas powered push mowers are back!
(Any kind of riding mower is out of the question for my "yard" here on the mountainside)

For the last few years Lowes and Home Depot were aggressively pushing battery powered mowers.
Damn pricey and just wait til you gotta replace the battery.
The only gas mowers they had were real pricey as well.
You couldn't find a cheap, light push mower.

My guess is that people are hanging on to their old gas mowers.
Kinda like how people are hanging onto their gas vehicles.
Many just ain't got the money for overpriced stuff right now.


I have nothing in particular against battery powered things... where they make sense.
I wore out several cordless drills and many battery packs when I was subcontracting trim.
I'd use one when installing locksets or working off a ladder, etc.
But when I had serious stuff to do and there was power available... run a cord and use a serious tool.

Hell, I even had cordless nailers that ran off butane and a battery for ignition.
I'd use 'em for punchlist items when I didn't want to take the time to run hoses.
Buying and running any such things gets expensive though.
If I was into anything serious... run out air hoses and get out the pneumatic tools.

For the ammo?

 

Yes. They're pretty reasonable priced. I also get shirts pants and sometimes boots from them

 

But you strap yourself up into a tree hanging above the ground that's probably the same height as our roof

I am not sure I could do the same.

Yes, a lot. We're within an hour of multiple forests. With our vehicle registration we pay I think an extra $10 a year and that gives you day use access to all state parks and the Res is basically like an HOA. Depending on if you want to camp, fish, recreate you just get a yearly pass and go do your thing. I think we spend about $80 for the access we get and it's all saved in our nifty FWP app along with any licenses we buy.

 

I miss shooting on blm land or paper company lands

We actually have one we stop at frequently when traveling cause it has a clean bathroom and we decided to grab our rods to fish for a few minutes while we stopped and when we left we saw the sign and were like ooo maybe we should look at the board next time before we grab our rods
