I was deemed 100% NOT at fault. All fault and liability was admitted by the other driver. I have a different insurance company than they do, and they are lowballing the fuck out of me. My truck is absolutely 100% totaled, they estimated over $17,000 in damages done to my vehicle.

I retained my vehicle and i’m trying to get a fair value for it as well. They are not being kind at all. They wont even help me get a proper rental vehicle.

My insurance claims they would take 3-18 months to settle if I turned it over to them. Where as the other insurance company is trying to quick settle and make me fuck right off. They’ve shot down the comparable vehicles that’ve shown them valued at over $16,000 and refuse to offer me even close to what I need. The whole process is literally miserable.

 

That is terrible, I’m sorry the insurance company is being so horrible. People should treat people better than that.

 

They told me if I don't take a rental, i forfeit what it would cost them to provide it for me. So its use it or lose it. Thats insane. Furthermore, they refuse to rent me a truck. Told me if I want a truck or a larger rental vehicle, i have to pay the difference in cost per day. This shit has to be a joke.

 

wait what??? when my truck got hit by the deer and i needed a rental my insurance gave me a set amount of money and i could choose what i wanted and i was able to rent a 2wd 23 or 22 f150. how much are they giving you per day?

 

They wont disclose anything with physical documents and are trying to do everything verbal over the phone.

 

so mine was done over the phone as well. i talked with my case manager and asked them how much i will be getting for a rental and if its limited to a specific vehicle type? was told no i get i think it was 50-80 bucks a day? something like that? and can choose on what is available at enterprise.

 

I assume the issue here is that you were dealing with your insurance and they want to keep you as a customer (at least to some degree). He is dealing with the other person's insurance and they don't give an F about him...

 

No, my insurance company is not the problem, it is the other party’s insurance that i’ve been dealing with. My insurance only fronted the medical coverage so far.

 

isnt it the insurance company job to fight on your behalf? can you have them do their jobs??

The total loss adjuster is only existing to mitigate and minimize the losses of the company he works for. Because i’m not a customer of their and never will be, they dont care at all about me or my losses.

How is the front of the engine still intact?! Is the oil pan ok?

My donor engine was from a front end impact and all the pullies were fubar'd. The timing cover was shattered, one of the valve covers was shattered, the end of the crankshaft was damage as well. Hell it even big metal coolant line that runs in the valley of the engine!

 

It runs. It was trans fluid from the cooler that made everyone think it was blown. Fired right up with nothing but an air bag light on. I need a radiator, some hoses, and a clutch fan to drive it around the gravel lot and see if the drivetrain isnt hurt. I was shocked it ran

 

Monday is the 17th. The 17th marks day number 30 without having a roadworthy vehicle and zero compensation for my loss. This is getting very ugly, very quickly.

What the fuck is wrong with these insurance companies?

 

Hang in there. Remember, you made it out healthy. Vehicles can be replaced.

 

While I understand that part and i’m eternally grateful for the sacrifice my truck made for all of us, I don't know many people that can just basically light $17-20,000 on fire and be okay.

I haven’t had a vehicle payment since around 2018. Now i’m at a total loss with zero compensation and have to go buy a $19-26,000 replacement vehicle and have a loan with a 7-10% interest rate at zero fault of my own.

On top of that, I am storing my destroyed truck that I cant drive or part out until this mess is settled. So I literally cannot move along with any of my life at this point.

I don’t understand why most people involved in NO FAULT accidents, are settled and moved on within 1-2 weeks. Here I am at week 4 with nothing but our medical bills paid (Thank the lord for that or i’d really be screwed).

 

That really sucks to hear, although I’m glad your medical bills have been taken care of.

Does the other party have one of the major reputable insurance companies? I was in a collision when I had my Ram 1500 (old lady side swiped me) and that was an extremely easy process. It was years ago but I think she had one of the big name companies.
