The shrouds weren't as hard to fit as I anticipated. Once the projectors were mounted, I set the shrouds in place, and marked where the shrouds would come into contact with the bowl. I found it was easy to remove the necessary material on the bottom rim of the shroud with my orbital sander instead of my RotoZip. I did do a little trimming on the inner lips of the shrouds with the RotoZip in order to clear the projector's 4 fastners. It was hard to get good pictures of the shroud trimming but here's some attempts. There wasn't much to take off.

I mounted the shrouds with epoxy. I used the projector's 4 fastners (as seen in the picutre above) as attachment points and I put a bead around the black plastic of the projector. Once it cured, the shrouds are on there no doubt. Very solid.

Bought a big roll of Window-Weld to seal my headlights with. Did both of them with about 3 feet total (it stretches, alot!).

Should be enough on the roll to do at least one, maybe even two more sets of headlights.

Pay for the shipping & it's yours.

This article has no relevance to the kits that are being sold here. This article is based SOLELY on A) replacing ONLY the factor bulb with a "conversion" HID and B) placing a "conversion" HID bulb into a projector..... The kits that are being sold here are identical to a factory Acura TL and infiniti FX......

With these kits you get completly new D2s bulbs (which can never be plugged straight into an existing halogen harness) (and which are OEM to most high end cars), you also get new ballasts (which are OEM to most high end cars), and you get a projector that is either an actual OEM unit, or one that is built to replicate it.

So unless the outer plastic lense of our trucks is different than say an Acura TL or Infiniti FX, the light output will be identical.....

Yes and it is still illegal! The law says you can not put them in a housing made for halogen period.

I think this is the best option by far but you leave yourself open to tickets. Just saying. For the record the mods I have seen here look great! I almost did the mod myself, but I travel for work and go through many states and I just don't need the problem.

I say go forward but be aware.

Now tell me if you would...... what cop will know for certainty that your truck didnt come with them from the factory? Car manufacturers make several of each model vehicle in which some have projectors and some have halogen. Though it is possible if you were taken to court, I HIGHLY doubt that any police officer will question a light that looks identical to any BMW or Acura on the road..... unless you had some led's and backlights ect in there too.

The law says a lot of stuff apparently.

Too be honest, I'll gladly risk receiving a citation. I prefer the better lighting output these give. Especially when situations come up where a BRIGHT light output is most needed.

    Started around 1100...

Ended up painting the shrouds with Graphite Gray Rustoleum, Satin Black went on the reflector bowl to avoid any stray reflections.

Spent alot of time on the shrouds, scratching my head. I was trying to get them to contact the reflector bowl - they won't. With the shroud-centric rings that should be included, the literally snap in place. Put a dab of epoxy on the projector just in case.

Light out put is absolutely amazing!

Might put the covers back on tonight - supposed to be crappy tomorrow. Will post pics if I finish them up tonight. IMG_0576_62e2dc4e1ec9e8c0874d2b631da4bf2a490019c9.jpgIMG_0577_85712384ee89e3dcefa87125291e2905cc1e4786.jpg

It's not necessary, but I put it on the outside of the projector housing - where the shroud slips over.

With the rings that clip inside of the shroud it isn't really needed because they fit snugly over the projectors. I just wanted to make sure that they would stay in place.
