Does this mean I need a whole new mirror assembly?

Backend into a mailbox ... Yea.. dumb. The cover popped off and the bottom piece of trim appears to be damaged too. Everything else works great.

Do you know if I can just get those trim pieces or is it only the mirror assembly?

 

If the tabs are broken off yes if not u might be able to replace the plastic pieces .i believe it comes as one piece .

The top piece pops off easily the bottom, I am not sure. You might be able to find a cheap assembly at a wrecker though. Maybe one that even matches the colour.

 

You have kind of a terminator look going. Maybe leave it?

 

You're lucky your mirror isn't broken. I had a similar incident in a parking garage. Luckily the panels were able to snap back in albeit a few cracks in the plastic that surrounds the mirror. My mirror actually broke tho so it was a good excuse for me to replace with some nice wide angle mirrors that I got from Etsy.

 

Did the same thing recently, but I clipped the driver side mirror on my garage. Needed a new mirror assembly. It was cheaper online than at the local Toyota dealership.

Took me a couple of YouTube videos and about an hour of time. Not difficult at all. Worst part was popping the door trim off.

 

I seem to remember that those covers are available. It's easier to find unpainted than painted, but they are available.

I did the exact opposite. A bizarre tree branch incident knocked out my glass but left the covers intact. I fixed that by buying spotters.

 

The dealer should sell the top piece and probably the bottom piece. You might be to mostly fix it with glue with the old pieces.

 

Do you have a link? Did it come in the standard black like my truck?

Maybe it's just me but it looks like the mirror pretty scratched up too.

 

Did you try putting it back together? That bottom piece just slides in. It can be difficult to work in, but there are no clips. The painted cover is pretty resilient also, unless you physically cracked it. No pics to tell.

 

The mirror assembly and mirror cap are 2 separate pieces. You can get the cap in any color. I think i got mine from Toyota in meridian, Mississippi.
