We get that your dad isn't in the best health anymore - but when you are stubborn AF it is hard to just stop being that way [add in the declining mental facilities and ]...

IF you came over and told me I shouldn't change the AC filter b/c laddar, I would tell you to fuck off - even though I hate/hate/hate ladders..
Because what I hate more than ladders, is asking for fucking help
A lot of us grew up in a time where no one gave a fuck about you and there was no help to be had [or if you ask, you best be dying 100%] - so we became very stubborn because we had to be, that was the only way we'd get shit accomplished
You can't live your life that way and then all of a sudden change, it is like breaking a 40+ yr old habit
And sidelining your dad will hasten his decline

IDEA: Perhaps you have him make a list of chores that need doin; then go over and help him do them - so y'all can do them together and he isn't doing things unsupervised. But make it seem like y'all hanging out and doing it together - NOT you supervising him.
