I did this for the first time last year for my brother’s 40th. I was fully prepared to hate it but ended up having a blast!

Sofia has started noticing the LA Metro train that travels alongside the freeway and keeps begging for us to take it like it's some kind of magic train ride. I keep trying to think of kid friendly ways of saying that its my job to keep you from becoming a victim of human trafficking

what gets me is that we've done the old 19th century steam engine train ride through the Redwood forest in the Santa Cruz mountains like 3 years straight with her so far at xmas time, probably the most idealistic "train ride" there is these days. But it's no LA Metro subway car apparently. Hell the metro would have been a hell of a lot cheaper, maybe I need to rethink this.

Could be fun through downtown I suppose. Some public transport isn't awful, the Seattle monorail is a totally asinine invention that goes nowhere useful really but it does give a cool view of the city.

Yeah maybe...I've ridden it several times but they were always at night after Kings games or bar hopping with friends so my opinion is a little skewed...probably isn't so bad during the day depending on where you're taking it.

I'd probably do like a commuter Amtrak train instead, something up and down the state that travels the coast would be cool. I haven't been on one in a few years but they're set up like commercial airline cabins with a hell of a lot more legroom, not too shabby.

I remember taking a passenger rail train ride to Hot Springs when I was 4yo in kindergarten. I just remember seats would recline. I probably took a nap. It seemed like it took a long time. I was a two train commuter when I worked in NYC. NJ transit to Newark and then Path Train to WTC. I would sleep as much as I could. Some coworkers way out on the Island with 2 hour train rides into Manhattan. They would sleep most of the way.

Funny how different the system is here, I think falling asleep on the LA Metro is one of the worst ideas one could have (maybe not during work hours, but certainly at night)

A buddy of mine that I used to go to Kings games with all the time was a bartender in downtown LA and knew a bunch of them at the arena, so we would always get hammered at the games for pretty cheap. One night I fell asleep drunk on the subway leaving a Kings game close to midnight, rode past my stop to the end of the line and then almost halfway back into downtown where the LA Metro hub is.

Some guy that was also on there shook me awake and told me he thought I missed my stop, hopped off about 5 or 6 miles from home and just walked back to my apartment in Pasadena at the time. Took a solid 2 hours. The shit I would do then that I would never even entertain the thought of doing now lol.

The have a bar crawl route that stops at some good entertainment places. Keeps down traffic in a congested area and maybe a few wrecks and DUIs. The street cars can be chartered for special parties.

There are two big arenas in the downtown Argenta area. The trollies help move people in and out of the events with less traffic.

I think they got the idea from the #7 train in Queens or the CTA to Wrigley Field in Chicago.

I've slept on NYC subways a couple of times in my wild youth. The E train would stop at WTC and that was my transfer stop.

That's safely beyond the scope of Disney movies I've been exposed to. But I had to endure the hell that is adult women in college that were enamored with Frozen so I stand in symbolic solidarity with you.

I feel like 90% of the people on public transit are riding with the same mindset: Avoid eye contact with everyone, don't talk to anyone, and hope that everyone else returns the favor.
