Non-sealed bearings, can you pack them like you would an axle bearing? Smear the grease in your palm and push it through? That forces new grease in and pushes out the old.

Just did the same. While servicing my g2 damper I lost some washers. Was going to get the new x2, but went with the Lift. Stoked to try it.

You guys are affirming my decision to drop my fork off at a shop for service! Fat bike fork needed service, I just let the LBS do it!

Same here. Strange how certain things we feel good about DIY, others we’d happily pay to be done. I pay my LBS to service my bike suspension. Whereas most auto stuff I only trust my work.

My engine bay will be looking like this when the weather warms up enough…

50 hour service is easy…I haven’t done a 200 yet but may need to go the same route haha

You sure can. Most bike cartridge bearings have a rubber side plate seal and you can easily pry it off with a utility knife. You'll find most are low-grade and not packed with very much grease and something as simple as repacking with good quality Red grease can really help, especially suspension pivots and headset bearings that don't fully rotate and prone to fretting. I've saved a few headset and pivot bearings Mid-season that took on a bit of water with a simple repack.

My problem is I didn't plan my bike setups well enough. I have DVO, Fox, Rockshox and Manitou suspension. I'm slowly collecting the tools and oils to do them but don't have them all yet.

This. These guys are local to me and people are buying cheap fox or RS forks and doing their custom dampers. Cool company

hah! I'm a mix between diy and shop. most bike stuff i can do unless it's serious full rebuilds or something.
as for auto stuff, depends on costs and time. basic maintenance i do myself. but anything more serious i weight time vs cost. I helped my brother in law replace his alternator on his highlander today and what a pita. But it got replaced and.......bad voltage regulator. damn. reman'd alternator, took that gamble. so we gotta reschedule it for another time when we're both free. flip side is, he's saving himself from quoted cost of 1k+.

    For sure.
The coolant valley reseal I need is a $3k+ job at the Toyota dealer or $1500+ if you can find an independent shop willing to do it. Or ~$200 in parts and 6-8hrs in my garage. I’m going with the latter.

We'll I'm back here with an update.

The bike was recovered in Dec 2024!!!!!

My wife sometimes has trouble sleeping so she decided to browse FB Marketplace and it was there! The bike. As it was stolen, pink CB Candy pedals, velcro strap for the spare tube, pump mount on the top tube (pump was gone), bear bell on saddle was ripped off but the magnet pouch was still on it, and even the lucky cat bottle cage!

It was found in a different city about 20 miles away from where it was stolen. Local detective couldn't help due to short notice and it being X-mas eve. Long story short, the person on FB said he was selling for his "cousin", so the cousin reached out to me but said he wasn't available but his uncle was able to meet me. So I went. The uncle didn't speak english so the cousin was on speaker phone translating. I inspected the bike while wife called dispatch and was put on hold for 15 minutes before I called 911, which in turn put me on hold for at least 15 more minutes before I gave up. I told the person on the phone that I have proof that it was my bike, and that I'm either walking away or calling the police. He asked for proof so I showed showed the uncle the invoice with serial, and pointed to the serial on the bottom bracket. The uncle genuinely seemed unaware and innocent. Person on the phone said they didn't know it was stolen and that they bought it for $600 and was trying to flip for $2000 (BS) and just wanted their money back. Uncle said he didn't want problems in spanish (my wife has basic conversational Spanish, 4 years of HS level). So I walked away with the bike, forwarded everything to the detective (screenshots, audio recording, ect). Never heard back from the detective since. Disappointed in our LEO to say the least.

I don't have firearms, but I went with pepper gel, knife, and both my wife and I are trained in Jiu-Jitsu (she's more experienced than me). Yes, it was stupid of us going and stupid of me bringing my wife, but we took the risk for something we worked so hard for.

After recovery, I replaced the saddle (YT SDG Saddle was never comfortable and I've grown to love Ergon saddles ever since it came on my Canyon), tires, grips, and rear shock from the Fox Factory DPS remote to Fox Factory DPS 3-position from a 2024 Izzo. I rode it a few times and it was nostalgic but I realized that since I had already bought a Canyon Neuron to replace it, It was kind of pointless having two similar bikes. I came across a Hardtail party video on the new Neuhaus Hummingbird Core and it got me excited. After chatting with Nick the owner via e-mail, and researching the company, I pulled the trigger. The plan was to transfer everything (groupset, cockpit, fork, wheels, dropper, brales) but I ended up ordering a new fork since the one that is on the Izzo is 130mm and the frame was designed around 120mm. Found a deal on the Fox 50th anniversary fork (I think these aren't selling well since many retailers have them on sale. I even bought a matching one for my Neuron and it was cheaper than the 120mm version!).

I need to trim the front brake hose, then bleed front and rear brakes, and then it'll be ready. I ordered a new stem to match that should be here in a few days. Hopefully by this weekend!

Thanks! Yea def sketchy. Luckily we met in a public area, parked further away and took my daily commuter sedan (since our truck is easy to spot and I pass through that area regularly).

*updated with photo of the YT after replacing the mentioned parts

If anyone is interested in a basically brand new, upgraded Fezzari Delano, size M, I just posted mine up on Pink Bike.

I think I like their original name, Ferzzari, more than their updated rebrand, Ari, a lot better.

I agree! This was my second one, the other is my fat bike. I think the Fezzari name fills the down tube better (and the color choices were better also)
