Has anyone added a sunroof to a 3rd gen? Is this something that a dealer could do? I have a 2023 offroad, and the only thing I dont like about it is lack of sunroof.

Terrible idea, the OEM ones will most likely fail at some point and that is waaaay better than aftermarket. I think a lot of people like the idea of them. I love the extra headroom from not having one. If you're that set on having a sunroof trade the truck in for one that does.

I've had many sunroofs over many years in several vehicles. never had any sort of failure. Don't know where people think that's a common issue. I wouldn't add a sunroof to a vehicle without one installed at factory. especially one that slides open. That could be a problem. In the old days people used to install sunroofs that flipped open at the back side but did not slide. That might be ok if you can find one. Personally I don't use sunroofs much and don't really notice it when i have one.

This reminds me of the last days of Western Auto. They sold a DIY sunroof kit. Many a poor teenager completly ruined their cars after buying that kit.

Love my moonroof but wouldn't cut a hole where there wasn't one to begin with.

And JC Whitney. Although the latter managed to evolve and is apparently still around in some form today.
A far cry from the JC Whitney of my youth, I'm sure..

Just get some tin-snips and cut a rectangular hole in the roof: done.... When rain threatens, or it's wicked hot out, just jump out and velcro-down/attach a sheet of that brown particle-board stuff to seal things up. (don't get the stuff with the peg-holes) When it rains, it will still leak a lot less than a full "do-it-yourself" install job. (even if you use the stuff with the peg-holes.) :proposetoast:

I have 'sunroof' in 4 Toyota vehicles. Two are taped shut cause they leak.

Really glad my Tacoma doesn't have one.

Post 49. Looks like someone is trying to get to 50 so they can post on the buy/sell forum. ;-) Just messing with you OP in case you're serious. And responding to get my final 5 posts in so I can see if I can offload some unused 2883 OME coil spring and add-a-leafs because I totaled my first gen before I could install. Good luck with the roof cutting.
