Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all the hero models were pretty much the same size.

Sadly no. GoPro's or similar action cams are so wide angle that anything a distance aways is too small in the frame. Don't get me wrong I love mine and it is nice to have but it turns a sketchy section of trail into a bore fest. I do much better using my "good camera"

I don't recomend that for street driving. On the trail I am the poster Child for distracted driving between Gaia, the camera, the radio, snacks...

The cameras are very close to the same size yes. The mount has become a bit of an industry standard.
According to the prestigious inter webs the last few years GoPro's have a habit of freezing and losing files. Current action cam is the DJI action 4. The image stabilization is incredible and sharper files than the latest GoPro.

I have gotten a few decent shots using my iPhone in a windshield mount. It's Trickey the 1x lens is too wide and the 3x too narrow in portrait framing. I can get what's directly ahead but things fall out of frame quickly.

Don't know much about the GoPro camera, just reading up on them now. Not interested in spending $300 for one and wondering what else will fit in the existing bracket. After reading Jonathan's post am convinced that GoPro is not the way to go.

Oh, I don't let it ruin my day. And, I don't actively engage in road rage behavior. I just yell at the dummies through my windshield and then go about my business.

And, to your point about getting there slower: you're right on there. The drive is a lot less stressful altogether if you're not in a hurry. A lot of times I'll leave 10-15 minutes early so I can take my time.

Don’t waste your money on a go pro. You can get a decent dash cam for $100-150 that’s going to have much better image quality.

I’ve used both rexing and kenwood

nearly everything comes with its own mount so you can save your GoPro mount for something else. There’s a ton of adapters to put other things there

    My handheld radio is distracting.
I usually have the music on and by the time I catch the message, it's half over.

It doesn't help that I keep the handheld volume down. Otherwise I have to listen to blaring static.....

I haven't figured out how to change it, if it can. If there's a way to mute the static.

Adjust your squelch filter, and if you're hardwired, make sure your antenna is set up correctly. Also make sure you're set to low power broadcast (4w or less)

And finally, can always try different channels/frequencies

    No squelch adjustment.
The power was set to M. I switched it to L.

The problem is, I was leaving it in 'moniter'. :homer:

What kind of Honeypot junkinesium radio doesn't have a squelch filter setting?
