Morning all. Here's something useful... Out of desperation, I picked up some Tylenol Precise pain-relieving cream. My wife uses it, swears by it, and it works on my nasty back pains, that show up in different spots from time to time. I awoke yesterday with pain between my shoulder blades, wife applied some. I couldn't reach it. Worked in about 15min. This stuff is now a staple in this abode.
Sorry if this looks like an ad... just wanted to pass along something useful that works.

    Hahhahahhaa

My wife taught me the difference. I never really thought about it. Basically a cream soaks/blends in. Ointment is a nice greasy layer of goodness. Never use an ointment on your face in public. People will avoid you.

My first ticket (for speeding) was at age 16, just after the speed was dropped from 65 or 70 to 55 (Jan. 1974)!
I needed to change lanes on I-405 to get to an exit for Newport Beach... There was a Highway Patrol along with all of the cars who were afraid to do anything but stay the course. Well, I could either slow down to force my way over (possibly causing an accident), our briefly accelerate safely to move over... I was 'boxed in', otherwise. I chose the safer method, without making my fellow 405 freeway motorists slow their 55 mph.
    I got the ticket!!!

Exhibition acceleration, failure to stop at the command of an officer, speeding, reckless driving, car impounded... and the judge dropped the fine to $20 and never knew how fast the Highway Patrol clocked me at. With the standards of the day at $5 per mile over the limit it would be $350 in a 70 mph speed zone. Before they hauled the car away there were 8 county sheriffs, two city cops, and two highway patrol gathered around the car so they could see what they'd been chasing. But I found out something important that night... you can't outrun a radio. Them were the days...

In 1987 I was going through divorce. I got the house, dogs and my truck, boat and a lot of debt. She got the car and a load of money. I bought myself a new corvette. I had just been promoted to VP and could afford all the debt. I was in a bad emotional state and getting a corvette was not really a good idea for me. I collected ticket after ticket all for speeding. I kept going to traffic school and back then they would be erased from your record. You were only eligible to go once every two years. The thing is they didn’t keep records of attending traffic school between counties. So each ticket I got in different counties I could go to traffic school. I was lucky I got 4 tickets in 4 different counties but my luck ran out.

One day I was driving home from Los Angeles 400 miles to my home in Northern California up highway 5. I came upon a Porsche and we began racing on and off. There weren’t many cars on the highway. It’s flat wide open country just an occasional gas station. Kept my eyes open for highway patrol. I suddenly noticed way behind me red lights coming up fast. The Porsche and I slowed down to 65 the speed limit then. He pulled us both over. Friendly guy. I asked him where he came from and how he clocked us. He smiled and pointed up in the sky. A CHP airplane had clocked us and sent out one bad ass pursuit car. CHP were using modified up Camaros for pursuit cars. I asked him how fast to catch us, he wouldn’t say but when I said 140 mph + he smiled and nodded. He wrote us for the max speed that wouldn’t require him to arrest us, which was a lot less than what we were going.

The violation required I appear in court which was about 4 weeks after the incident. The court I had to appear in was 150 miles south of my home in a small rural farming town in the middle of nowhere. I almost got a speeding ticket on the way there. When the judge called me , I pleaded guilty and I asked the judge if I could go to traffic school. Unbeknownst to me the countries throughout the state were now sharing information. The judge looked down at the records in front of him , then looked at me , smiled and said Ken, I see you’ve attended traffic school 4 times in less than 2 years, you apparently didn’t learn anything. Looks like you are a career student. You are either an extremely poor student or as dumb as the bench I sit before. Your fine is $1000, I don’t want to see you here again. $1000 was a lot of money back then. Shortly after that I sold the vet and bought a new 4Runner 4x4. Modified it and got into nice slow off roading.
Oh and Travir when I was a teen and early 20’s my record was very much like yours. I too learned you can’t out run the radio.

I used to travel the I-5 and Hwy 99 in my younger years . The CHP would use the hash marks on the side of the highways to track your speed by aircraft . I used to see very fast cars racing ea other and pass me like I was standing still . Then a few miles up the highway their would be CHP Mustang or Camaro pulling those cars over

Yep and they had signs up along the highway saying - Patrolled by Aircraft. Until that fateful day I thought the signs were bs. Now a days CHP uses radar.

It would be fun to drain a shot or two and swap stories about the days of hot cars. So many of these stories will be lost to time, although I'm not sure anyone being born today will ever have any appreciation.

I’ll bring the liquid refreshment. Friends of mine say I should write a book about my crazy misspent youth. The youth of today have no idea of what the “good ol” days were like.
