Good luck squeezing a 3ur in a Tacoma. If you ever saw one sitting on the floor your jaw would join it. They are absolute behemoths. 2UR isn’t much better.

There is the tacundra which is a horribly built and super ghetto tacoma with the 5.7 in it. he moved the cab and hacked his truck up to fit it. There's also a 5g 4runner running one that was actually built well. Don't know many details about it thought.

I've driven in lots of prerunners with LS and 4l80 and they didn't feel slow? what stall converter do you have?

    Look into 4l70e. It’s basically a 4l80e inside a 60 case.

oh yeah, that’s why. I forgot that engine is massive. It’s crazy how the LS is dang near the size of the 1gr. Honestly, I’m leaning toward just building out a 4.0L someday. Maybe some turbo noises. Trade the headache of packaging for a headache of sticking with a Toyota ECU. Plus can still keep 4wd that way.

The LS is quite a lot smaller than the 1gr

That’s quite a compelling option then. Because the Tacoma can use all the room it can get up front for suspension options. Did you ever figure out your center mount? Last I remember you were looking for reverse cut gears.

My last transmission begs to differ. I used to have a 4L75E, an even stronger version of the 4L70E, and I grenaded that thing after one good trip up in the cinders. 4L60/65/70/75 are all the same pretty much. 70/75 gets a 5th planetary and some other goodies that make them stronger, but still shit transmissions in comparison to the 80

The modeling for the space constraints and geometry is pretty much done. Then just have to design the actual parts in cad so I can build the arms, knuckles, bulkhead etc. looks like it will do a touch over 19" of 4wd travel with around .25" of bump steer from bump to droop, with roughly the same over all width as a +3.5" Lt kit

Like @Pittsy said. They aren’t even in the same world as an 80.

Looks great! However I will say I see this not working for a few things on the market that I feel are great products. One of them being the JD pivots.

Personally when I did mine, I made it so the diff mounts were no longer the low point. Those I have seen get tore off. Also, doing it this way allowed for more room for steering activities.

Yea this was purely just a replacement crossmember for him. Not really something I’m offering. Was kinda just touching on the mention of this by someone else in the thread.

It makes me want to puke knowing this truck pulls about 2” less travel than my +4.

Man, buyers remorse sure sucks sometimes.

A little under actually. And that’s putting everything on the line of questionable if it weren’t caged. Strapped up 1” and bumped about 3/8” from metal to metal.

The one and only upside to the kit is the moved the travel range a little. But it sacrifices uptravel. Which I guess in the grand scheme makes fitting tires easier. But yeah.

I setup another truck last year with a 2.25”, and basically ended at identical numbers to the +4.

Is what it is I guess. Only room to improve, right?
