Looking to fill the big blank tailgate space on my 2nd Gen with something. I need the total length and spacing between the letters.

    Thanks for helping.

Are you going to buy some 3rd gen letter inserts and put them on yours? Spacing may not be consistent between letters in order to make them look aesthetically pleasing. I could be wrong though. Safest bet is to probably get the distance to center for each letter from the left or right edge of the tailgate.

<edit>. Find a 3rd gen, slap a length of painters tape across the tailgate right below the letters, sharpie mark where the letters rest, roll up your tape, skeedaddle before the owner figures you’re up to some weirdness.

Or better still, buy a set of letters that come pre-arranged on a paper backing that all you normally need do is line it up with the depressions on the tailgate and press them on (that's how mine came when I bought letters for mine many years ago).
I think I've seen versions that are just vinyl tape as well, giving you an option that doesn't sit way out above the paint of your 2nd-gen.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, seriously, they are terrific. One thing that may factor in is the '15 tailgate has a slight curvature which could affect how a "hard" flat letter would (or wouldn't) attach. Perhaps a flexible style is the answer here.

And your letter spacing tips are appreciated too...picture the local cops finding an 80 year old man kneeling in shopping center parking lot with a roll of tape and a sharpie claiming to be measuring the @ss end of someone else's truck... *click* go the cuffs...

What about placing the letters closer to the handle similar to this picture? You can then space the letters to your visual liking.

Once I have the letters I can lay them out to please my eye. That can make or break this project. One factor here is will they lay up nicely to match the curvature of the tailgate itself?

I think the vinyl tape in my post #7 might lay well on a slight curve.

Thank you. That helps me keep proper proportions.
