And even further, it’s probably about carbon emissions per mile driven

Nevermind that natural gas and gasoline aren’t the same

Have you test driven the 4th gen non hybrid? Would be interested to hear your thoughts on how that compares to hybrid/3rd gen.

The poor MPG#s for the TH on Fuelly are probably not driven by overland usage. The reality is that the negligible efficiency gain of the iForce Max has been seen across all the Toyota models its used in: Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, LC, 4Runner. Contrast that to a Rav4 where you have large torque AND efficiency gains and its clear this particular engineering solution of integrating the hybrid motor at the transmission just aint it. Ram has the better solution with the Ramcharger, but who knows whether its going to be reliable.

Sharing personal experience and information and suggesting a different observation is not being mad. Can we be objective? 15 mpg is really outside the bell curve. Why couldn't that be a use case?

Edit: I am telling you straight up that I have to be leaking fuel and drag racing constantly to get 15 mpg on the streets.

They say you cant make all of the people happy all of the time.

I dont think a pick up truck can change that, but go ahead and hold your breath.

It sure looks like hybrid owners I've seen like their trucks and could care less about MPGs.

They also seem pretty happy about the added power.

But there will always be someone to complain who wouldve never been happy in the first place, and probably never drove one, and doesnt have the means to get one

Only 188 miles so far but the computer says I’m averaging 21.6 mpg. City driving with a mix of stop and go and steady 40-45mph stretches. Only been over 60mph a couple of times (because I over accelerated - combo fake/ TRD exhaust sounds so good).

Alledgegly not any faster or better mpg is bs.

People can be strange. They get this notion in their heads that can't be rid of. We have people saying, no this is what I am experiencing and seeing , and instead of reconsidering they just blame the person reporting. There are people here to share info. It may not jive with what my preconception was. I need to evaluate again. That is what rational people do.

I got my mom a '24 RAV4. The hybrid gives a 30% bump in mpg and a 2% performance bump. Compare that to the Taco's 9% efficiency and 8% performance bump. So, yea, maybe that configuration still has room to grow, maybe it's bust.

Isn't the next gen Rav4 going to be introduced in the next few years? Rumored to be hybrid exclusive.

Looks like the RAV4 is the vehicle for you. Really, seriously. Not being snarky.

Good point. I'm sure all vehicle manufacturers include fleet sales numbers in their sales data totals for sedans, trucks, SUVs, etc.

You just pulled those numbers out of thin air. People just can’t wrap their head around the fact that the system in the Tacoma was designed for performance and durability intended for truck use. Comparing it to your rav 4 is irrelevant.

The sample size on fuelly is small enough that those averages should be taken with a grain of salt. Not to mention the data will be completely different based on a multitude of variables. There’s a reason why we use EPA estimates for this data.

Complaining about the small efficiency gains doesn’t really make sense as this was always designed to be a performance hybrid.

It retains the simplicity and ruggedness of a traditional BOF drivetrain, while giving you a torque curve that otherwise would only be achievable through a small diesel or larger gas v8. Maybe we will see them implement plug in or more advanced parallel drive system in the future.

I’ll take the simplicity of the Iforce for now. They gave us better performance and improved efficiency while retaining the proven architecture of a truck based BOF platform.

I doubt the ram charger will go anywhere. Worsts of both worlds.

    That didn’t fit his narrative.
