    Some dude just went by running through gears in a Cummins welding rig like it was a VTEC.

    Cummins at high RPM does sound pretty good, still an inline 6 once it gets out of lugging territory

    Can they actually live that way? I thought high RPM diesel was a no-no.

    Judging by the look of this truck combined with the driving style, I'd say it's well on its way to a prolonged, painful death regardless.

    Yeah, with some mild work the bottoms on those are good for like 5000rpm, they go higher with more work but most don't do that unless they're pulling trucks.

    @Speedytech7 I just got an update from my other friend that was helping with the stubborn coolant in that 5VZ. After putting a new (Toyota) thermostat in, he said he had to heat cycle the engine a bunch of times get the cooling system refilled properly. He spent a few hours on it. The engine would take another 1/2 gallon of coolant after each cool down.

    That's weird, I usually fill and squeeze hoses a ton before the first fire up, leave cap off until its getting close to temp and then slam the cap on and forget about it, just top the burp tank and it'll fill itself usually after that. Start driving after I put the cap on and never really had an issue.

    Glad it's not just us then.

    Yeah, weird. I actually wish we had found something wrong to explain why it was being so difficult.

    The guy working on it today has a ton more experience with engine than I do (he's the friend who spent his younger days blowing up and rebuilding turbo Subarus) and he was stumped too.

    @Wulf

    I was literally just about to tag you and ask how the weather's been out there.

    I'm having issues with packages being stuck in Aurora an extra 2-3 days.

    Again, USPS just like I mentioned to @04Pre_Runner

    And now, I just had a package delivered to my PO Box after I mailed it to @TACOTU3 last week! Pulled up the shipping label too ensuring I didn't make a mistake and yep, it's correctly addressed to ship to him :facepalm:

    We had to run errands in South Lake today. 1st time this season I remember seeing snow at lake level.

    Finally found some off road content in Idaho, not that I have a trail worthy truck rn but still. It’s weird how little info there is out there about trails in the state.
