Toyota marketing. needs. work. When people hear "hybrid" they automatically think of prius' and gas savings.

Tacoma Hybrid is really just sticking an electric motor between the transmission and ice motor to give the truck output a lot more torque. I don't think they ever thought of it as something that would help with mpg.

Is it though? The Tacoma hybrid was 100% focused on torque improvement while the RAV4 hybrid was built purely for improved economy.

I average 21 in my '19 over thousands of logged miles. Not saying the Pro is not a fine ride; its certainly better than the dog powertrain on the 3rd gen, but the efficiency gains just arent there. Maybe they never will be in a Tacoma.

You are getting well above the average of 16.25 for the Ranger Raptor per Fuelly.com

My only issue with the truck hybrids is value, but otherwise it delivers what it promises. There's no blue logos on the trucks, just MAX lol.

I test drove both. I also drove a gen 3. Gen 3 to gen 4, night and day. Gen 4 non-hybrid to hybrid, morning and day. Have you driven other hybrids or EVs, because they're all quick off the line. Beyond about 3000 rpm though, the boost is doing most of the work.

If the hybrid was available in an Xtracab I would probably own one. Before reading this thread I didn’t know that the only way to get a LB hybrid was a TH - that’s unfortunate for people like me who prefer the austerity and reduced cost of basic trim packages.
All I need is an Xtracab hybrid SR5 4WD to make me happy.

I know it's been mentioned before when pricing a hybrid the Trailhunter and Pro are close in list price so if you can get one it makes sense. Discounts on in stock hybrids and the potential for mark ups on the TH and Pro due to limited availability the difference may be greater. If you can get one of those two at a discount even better.

If your going past 3,000rpm you'll never get close to epa mpg. With the hybrid you get off the line quicker and don't feel (as) compelled to keep the pedal down.

JFC - if you do not like the Hybrid don't buy it, simple.

I have zero need or want to buy the TH, so I won't - simple

Judging by the response, we should really stop kicking people's dogs. It's apparently not a popular thing to do.

It is also what I said earlier. If someone actually wants performance (can't believe I am using performance in a truck thread) then the Raptor is far better, hands down in the PERFORMNCE category nothing else considered. The MPG is nominal as there are guys with non hybrids getting even better MPG then the hybrid. So if the only play for the hybrid is you get better performance THEN THE OTHER TACOMA without losing a lot of MPG then I guess that is the stretch that can be said. But when the performance is really nothing other than a little better then the standard Tacoma and the MPG argument is actually null then the premium price is going to be tough for sales.

So back to my very first point. Sales will dictate if this stays around and if the hybrid is viable. The value is not there on paper and the consumer will decide if Toyota can keep it around. Then of course people came on and said "sales number don't matter". Well they do to Toyota.

That was the whole point of your thread here though wasn’t it? Pretty obvious troll topic.
