Hah, well that's ironic. We have only one town officer and all he does is issue parking tickets

No sewers out here, we don't even have piped gas -- funny being right in the heart of the Marcellus Shale that was in the news some years ago.

To a point a lock only keeps an honest man honest, out here they can just pick up a rock, from the thousands handy and chuck it through a window. There really isn't anyone to hear.

The wife and I looked at some houses a few years back and one house had a lathe in the basement that was bigger than that one. I excitedly asked the realtor if the lathe came with the house. He said that we could put an offer on having it left with the house. The rest of the house was just strange in a weird, unusual kind of way. Very wonky layout. It was on a nice lot and great outbuildings but....I always wondered what happened to the lathe. I cannot imagine trying to move it.

One of my way back Plant Managers used to say
"do what you do well, pay others to do what they do well".

That has stuck with me all these years -- moving that lathe is one of those situations.

    For sure. Thanks.

My thinking is around alerting me and/or a central service. To get proof and more immediate notification of any trespass/break ins.

    history says otherwise.

    recent history even.

covid. the roadways dropped massive amounts of traffic, and were literal raceways for 'essential' people with everyone that can actually work from home doing so--i was part of it. but middle manglement and corporate office space expenses have forced the entire country back to pre-covid in-person methods, which brings us back to pre-covid congestion.

put far more simply, we as a human race have a business management problem that is directly causing a congestion problem.

easing of congestion has been promised as a solution nearly as long as the self-driving cars have been the 'answer'. human psychology works against some of those problems as well. car-pooling is a very easy way to ease congestion, as well as public transportation. but if it was feasible, a majority would already be supporting those methods. but we love our independence, and public transportation generally suffers every year in every states budgeting because the majority don't want to take part in it.

much of the congestion issue has also been blamed on the human factor of merging within roadways. but in my experience in heavy traffic within chicago, much of the roads slow to a crawl because it's a capacity problem of there just not being enough space for the physical size of the vehicles wanting to use the highway, meaning it's not a speed or human interface problem. so no matter how much we automate the roadway system, demanding more physical space than the road has will still result in congestion issues. until at least, we as humans make another covid-like decision to change the physical-space usage of our roadway system.

the 'safety' aspect is another one ripe for debunking... core to that argument is the "80% rule". it's not difficult to get to an 80%-safe vehicle. i'd argue we're already there. but to get that last 20% of a 100%-safe vehicle, it's going to take 80% effort. not all that different from vehicle racing. it's not unobtainable in a field of 40 cars to be placed in the top 15. but it takes exceptional equipment, healthy financial backing, and a spectacular driver to consistently make up the last 15 places in the field.

current autonomous vehicle testing is at this point already. where they can safely/effectively navigate 80% of situations at least as well as humans. but because of the stipulations we've put on them-- that they must be 100% before debut, AV's are stuck in a 'purgatory' of accomplishing that last 20%, which honestly might never happen.

Sounds like it's just going to be getting acustomed to planning your trips and pick ups.
Water/sewer is over rated. You'll both will be fine. Plant a small garden and reap the rewards.

Last picture; we have those sitting outside at my work for people to put their cell phones and stuff in since nobody but us and management can have phones. People constantly locking their keys so we gotta go out and cut the lock off o_O

That's funny we had trucks from our plant in Canada come in and had to cut off the bolt seals. Boss doesn't understand, but it's a no brainer
